The grandson of former President Richard Nixon is running as a Republican for Congress in New York. CNN has a good story about Chris Cox, and in the video above, Cox is interviewed on Fox Business Channel:

Grandson of Richard Nixon Seeking New York Seat in Congress – Video

Good News. ABC News’ Jake Tapper is reporting tonight that Al-Qaeda No. 3 – Sheikh Sa’id al-Masri has been killed in Pakistan:

Political Punch:US officials tell ABC News that al Qaeda’s No. 3 — Mustafa Ahmed Muhammad Uthman Abu al-Yazid, known as Shaikh Sa’id al-Masri and Mustafa Abu al-Yazid – has been killed. Al Qaeda released a eulogy of Shaikh Sa’id tonight, officials said.

“Word is spreading in extremist circles of the death of Sheikh Sa’id al-Masri, widely viewed as the number three figure in al-Qaeda,” a US official told ABC News. “We have strong reason to believe that’s true, and that al-Masri was killed recently in Pakistan’s tribal areas. In terms of counterterrorism, this would be a big victory.”

US officials believed him to have been killed about a week ago in Pakistan.

Osama bin Laden and Ayman al Zawahiri are the spiritual founders, and considered No. 1 and No. 2 of al Qaeda list, but Shaikh Sa’id is considered the link between those two and rest of the operation, and for all intents and purposes the one running the organization day to day. . . . Read More

ABC News Reporting that Al-Qaeda No. 3 is Dead

Here is video of Karl Rove saying he does not believe the story put out by the White House and Rep. Joe Sestak to explain away the controversy over a “job offer” made to Sestak by the White House. Rove said it is “not plausible’ to believe the White House – through former President Bill Clinton – offered a non-paying appointment to an Executive Branch Policy Group when they knew that appointment would have to be approved by Congress. Sestak is a Congressman, and would be ineligible for such an appointment as a member of Congress. Rove said the White House, Bill Clinton and Sestak would all be aware of that fact.

In other words, Rove is saying they are covering up the real story. Something else was offered to Sestak, and they don’t want the truth to get out. That’s what Newt Gingrich said in a clip played in this video. Gingrich said their story is not believable, and that the White House must have reached out to Sestak and convinced him to “take the fall” to get them out of this trouble.

Here is video of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaking from Canada about the Israeli raid on a Turkish ship carrying Pro-Palestinian activists and supplies for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Netanyahu said Israeli forces boarded six ships to search them for weapons. On five of the ships, Netanyahu said things went smoothly. But on the sixth ship – the largest in the flotilla – a mob of people attacked the Israeli troops with clubs and knives, beating and stabbing several Israeli soldiers. The troops defended themselves, resulting in at least nine people being killed.

The ships were boarded as part of an ongoing blockade of supplies going into the Gaza Strip. Prior to imposing a blockade, pro-Palestinian groups would send rockets and other weapons into Gaza disguised as humanitarian aid.

The Jerusalem Post is reporting that President Obama, in a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, told him the U.S. needed the “facts” on the Israeli raid on a ship carrying Pro-Palestinian activists and supplies for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip:

Jerusalem Post: US President Barak Obama postpones Oval Office meeting with the prime minister, presses for IDF flotilla-raid details, expresses “deep regret at loss of life.”

US President Barack Obama spoke by telephone with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu Monday after the latter cancelled a planned Oval Office meeting scheduled for Tuesday. . . .

The two leaders also agreed to reschedule their meeting at the first opportunity. “The president expressed deep regret at the loss of life in today’s incident, and concern for the wounded, many of whom are being treated in Israeli hospitals,” a statement put out by the White House read. “The president also expressed the importance of learning all the facts and circumstances around this morning’s tragic events as soon as possible.” . . . Report: Obama Tells Netanyahu We Need Raid “Facts” ASAP

Here is video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declaring emphatically that Democrats will remain in the Majority in the House of Representatives after the Midterm Elections.

An audience member asked Pelosi if she “ever worries” about losing the Majority in the Midterms. Pelosi responded:

“No. Let me declare that the Democrats will be the Majority after the Midterm Elections.”

This smug, arrogant statement should make its way into Republican Campaign Ads this Fall. I can hear it now:

“Democrats are taking you for granted. They think you haven’t been paying attention to what they have been doing in Washington. But you have. Let Nancy Pelosi hear from you on Election Day.”

This was the best speech I have ever heard Biden give. I give him credit for doing a fine job today.

Perhaps President Obama should have stayed in Washington so he could go to Arlington National Cemetery.

Instead, he was in Elmwood, Illinois at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery so he could spend the weekend in Chicago. Today, he appeared at the podium to begin his speech and a downpour started almost immediately. Obama stayed just briefly to tell everyone the fear of “lightning” was forcing them to ask everyone to go back to their cars.

Obama appeared, umbrella in hand, and told people he would “stick around for 15 or 20 minutes” in case the stormy weather passed.

MSNBC: Obama had readied a similar message of gratitude for his appearance at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Illinois, and actually had taken the podium to give the address when the skies opened up with a quintessentially midwestern late-spring downpour — thunder, lightning and high winds.

Under the cover of a large umbrella, he told thousands gathered before him that while “a little rain never hurt anybody,” nobody wanted “anybody struck by lightning.” He asked people to return to their cars for their safety, and he retreated briefly to an administration building on the cemetery’s grounds. Obama a few minutes later boarded a pair of buses to greet military families that came for the event.

Obama Cuts Speech Short at Lincoln National Cemetery as Skies Open Up on Him – Video 5/31/10

Here is video via Israel Matzav of the supposedly “peaceful activists” on the Turkish Flotilla ship boarded by Israeli troops. The video shows one of the passengers beating an Israeli soldier with a metal rod, and the person who posted the video to YouTube bragged:

“See how we attacked them as soon as they landed on deck!!!! Look closely, we decked one of them with a crowbar!!!”

Claims have been made that Israeli Soldiers made unprovoked attacks on the passengers on the ship. This video looks like the Israeli soldiers took some real abuse before they retaliated.

Here is a breaking news report from Fox News on the decision by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to cancel his planned meeting at the White House with President Obama tomorrow.

Netanyahu was in Canada when the Israeli Raid on a Turkish Flotilla took place. He is heading back to Israel to deal with the crisis.

Palestinian Leader Mahmoud Abbas is calling the Israeli Raid on a Turkish Flotilla carrying supplies for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip a “massacre,” while Turkey is saying it will result in “irreparable consequences for Israel.

This report seems slanted in the Palestinians favor, but it does clearly state that Israel had warned the flotilla it would not be allowed to pass through the blockade which has been in place.

Israel has the right to defend herself. If Israel had simply let this convoy of ships pass, it would have sent a signal to the rest of the Arab/Muslim world that they could send similar convoys carrying whatever they pleased in the same manner.

The United States needs to stand by our ally while the rest of the world beats up on Israel. But with Obama in the White House, I have my doubts.

I believe this video is from Al-Jazeera, so understand that the reporter on board the ship is trying to cast the flotilla in the best possible light. Here is raw video of protests in Turkey that erupted following news that Israeli Forces stopped a Flotilla of Turkish ships carrying aid to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. At least 10 people are believed dead in the attack.

At least 10 people are dead and dozens wounded after Israeli Forces boarded a Turkish flotilla of ships carrying supplies for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Israel had warned the flotilla it would not be allowed to pass. Turkish officials claim the ships were only carrying humanitarian aid, while Israel was suspicious it might be carrying weapons as well.

Los Angeles Times: Israeli naval ships seized control of a protest flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip on Monday, killing at least 10 people and injuring several dozen, the Israeli military said.

Israeli television, citing foreign media reports, said the death toll could be as high as 16.

“The images are certainly not pleasant. I can only voice regret at all the fatalities,” Trade and Industry Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer told Israel’s Army Radio. . . .Read More

Here is video of Gov. Mike Huckabee talking to Eric Metaxas about his new book on the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran Pastor who spoke out against Adolf Hitler and actively participated in the plot within the Third Reich to assassinate Hitler. Bonhoeffer was eventually arrested and hanged by the Nazis in a Concentration Camp in 1945, shortly before the end of World War II.
