Bill Bennett at Values Voter Summit: “Islam Needs to Examine Itself”; “America is Not Islamophobic” – Video 9/18/10

Here is a powerful statement by Bill Bennett on Islam, and the reality of the way things are in America. Bennett was speaking at the Values Voter Summit this morning, and in this video he takes on the popular notion today that “America is Islamophobic.” Bennett pointedly says that is simply not the case. He cites statistics showing that there are vastly more crimes against Jewish people in America than there are against Muslims in America. Yet, no thinking person would call America an “anti-semitic” nation. Bennett flatly states that “America is not Islamophobic.”

On the contrary, Bennett makes the case that so much violence and acts of terrorism are being done in the name of Islam around the world today that it puts the burden on Islam to “examine itself.” Bennett contended it is “Islam that needs to change – reform.”
