A new Public Policy Polling poll on the 2012 GOP Presidential Nomination has Sarah Palin in the lead by two points over Newt Gingrich, with Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee not far behind.
This is now the second poll in the last month showing Palin the leader among possible GOP candidates for 2012. However, Mitt Romney has led the field in four polls released during the past month.
We have begun posting an average for candidates from the seven polls released in the past month. The average is not a true head-to-head average since not all the polls survey for the same field of possible candidates. So we have simply averaged the total for each candidate in the polls where they are included. Eventually, once the GOP field is set, the average will be based on the most recent 40 days of polls that include all the same candidates.
At this point, here is how the top five rank in the average:
(CNN) — Interpol, at the request of a Swedish court looking into alleged sex crimes from earlier this year, has put WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on its most-wanted list.
The Stockholm Criminal Court two weeks ago issued an international arrest warrant for Assange on probable cause, saying he is suspected of rape, sexual molestation and illegal use of force in August incidents.
Sweden asked Interpol, the international police organization, to post a “Red Notice” after a judge approved a motion to bring him into custody.
The “Red Notice” is not an international arrest warrant. It an advisory and request, issued to 188 member countries “to assist the national police forces in identifying or locating those persons with a view to their arrest and extradition,” according to Interpol…Read more
Here is video of President Obama speaking today after meeting with Republican Leaders where they discussed what to do about extending the Bush Tax Cuts.
Obama said the meeting was “productive,” and he felt everyone came to it “with a spirit of wanting to work together” for the American People.
He has directed Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner to lead negotiations with Congressional Leaders on how to move forward with extending tax cuts. Republicans want to permanently extend the Bush Tax Cuts for all Americans. Obama wants to raise taxes on the very people who own most of the businesses, and employ most of the workers in the nation. He then waxed eloquent on the need for everyone to not be partisan – when he has led as partisan an administration in the history of the Presidency!
Here is video of the Fox All-Stars talking about the WikiLeaks scandal, where Bill Kristol, Mara Liasson and Charles Krauthammer assess the fallout from the release of hundreds of thousands of classified State Department Cables and other documents.
Here is video of Dick Morris last night on Hannity where he said he believes Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was trying to get personal information on foreign diplomats and heads of state so he could “blackmail” them into doing what she wanted them to do.
Morris is basing that contention on WikiLeaks documents that show Clinton was urging State Department employees to try and obtain personal information such as credit card numbers and other personal information on foreign officials.
“It’s how the Communists work. They work on getting negative information on everybody, so that they can blackmail everybody with something.”
Hannity appeared shocked at what Morris said, but Morris responded with: “You’re not getting that (personal information) for a scrapbook, Sean.”
GOP Rep. Mike Pence spoke at the Detroit Economic Club today, and came out fully in favor of the Flat Tax, and called for the United States to abandon “Keynsian spending,” and return to “the practice of free market economics”:
THE HILL: “The time has come for Congress and this administration to take bold action to simplify our tax system and lower people’s taxes,” he said. “The best option, the most pro-growth option, is a flat tax. I believe it is time that America adopted a flat tax and scrapped the current system once and for all.” . . . .
“To restore American exceptionalism, we must end all this Keynesian spending and get back to the practice of free market economics. … The free market is what made America’s economy the greatest in the world, and we cannot falter in our willingness to defend it,” he said. “We should remember what Ronald Reagan said — ‘No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.’ ” . . . . Good job by Pence. He looks like he is setting himself up to make a run for the 2012 GOP Nomination, and the Flat Tax could be the centerpiece of his campaign.
