Former President Jimmy Carter Says Egyptian President Mubarak “Will have to Leave”

It appears former U.S. President Jimmy Carter is now adding his voice to those saying Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will have to leave office. Carter reportedly made remarks at his church in Plains, Georgia, yesterday on the crisis in Egypt, calling it the worst crisis in the Middle East since he was in office:

POLITICO: Former President Jimmy Carter believes that Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak “will have to leave” under pressure from a protesting populace.

Speaking at his church in Plains, Ga., on Sunday, Carter weighed in on the emerging crisis, saying he thinks Mubarak will have no choice but to give up his position of power. “[My] guess is Mubarak will have to leave,” he said . . . . “This is the most profound situation in the Middle East since I left office,” Carter said. In 1978, Carter moderated a peace accord between Israel and Egypt that is still in effect. A group of U.S. citizens were held hostage in the U.S. Embassy in Tehran for 444 days, from late in 1979 until Ronald Reagan was sworn in as Carter’s successor in January 1981. . . . . CNN Interview With Protesters In Alexandria Reveals Anti-Israel & Anti-American Motivations – Video

CNN’s Nic Robertson talks with some of the anti-Mubarak protesters in Alexandria, Egypt. The interviews quickly reveal anti-Israel and anti-American motivations at the 1:30 mark:

Woman #1 sets the stage for Woman #2:

“All the people hate him. He’s supporting Israel! Israel is our enemy. We don’t like him…Israel and America supported him. We hate them all!”

Woman #1 then explains that they will accomplish the removal of Mubarak by “revolution.”

Then the guy that follows them takes it up a notch by explaining that when the people in Egypt are finally free they will be able to “destroy Israel.”

GOP Rep. Thad McCotter Warns Radical Islamists Waiting in the Wings to Seize Power in Egypt – Video 1/29/11

Here is video of GOP Rep. Thaddeus McCotter talking to Neil Cavuto about the political unrest in Egypt. McCotter said there is great concern among the Egyptian-American community that a fall of President Hosni Mubarak will lead to a radical Muslim regime taking power in Egypt, led by the Muslim Brotherhood. McCotter has a large number of Egyptian-Americans in his district in Michigan – CD11.

McCotter is urging the U.S. to stand by Mubarak until the current institutions can bring about a transition of power, rather than seeing Mubarak fall, creating a vacuum that can be taken advantage of by the radical Muslim element in the country.

Others have said that the initial successor to Mubarak – if he falls – could likely be someone more moderate or reasonable, but that behind the scenes, the radical Islamists will be working to topple that person and take power eventually.

Former GOP Chair Michael Steele Goes on Bill Maher to Lament “Republican Justice”

I guess this makes Michael Steele feel better.

Here he is on with far-Left Bill Maher where he trashed “Republican Justice” for firing him as Chairman of the Republican National Committee despite big GOP gains in the 2010 Midterm Elections. When Mahr asked if he wanted to “walk that back” – referring to his use of the phrase “Republican Justice” – Steele said, “No, I don’t want to walk that back.”

Expect Steele to be the favorite interview of the liberal media for awhile, as they all hope to get him to trash the GOP.
