Politico — “SNL” head writer Seth Meyers spared no one in his star turn at the White House Correspondents Dinner, pivoting from jokes about the oddball crop of 2012 presidential contenders to members of Congress to President Barack Obama. He mocked the White House Correspondents Association itself, C-SPAN, the venue for the evening (the Washington Hilton) and the city of D.C.

Some of his best – and meanest – jokes:

“CSPAN is of course the official network for wide shots of empty chairs. … CSPAN is one unpaid electric bill away from being a radio station.”

“Donald Trump has said he’s running for president as a Republican — which is surprising because I thought he was running as a joke. “

“Donald Trump owns the Miss USA pageant, which is great for Republicans because it will streamline their search for a vice president.” (Read More)

Seth Meyers Mocks Trump, Biden and Others at “White House Correspondents Dinner” – Video 4/30/11

Here is partial video from tonight’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner – which could have been better called the “Bash and Mock Donald Trump Dinner.”

In this clip, President Obama mocks Donald Trump – who was present in the room with his wife. Obama said now that his Birth Certificate has been put to rest, Trump can “move on to more important matters” – like whether the “moon landing was faked,” or “Roswell.” He also mocked Trump’s “credentials and breadth of experience.” Obama proceeded to recap a recent episode of “Celebrity Apprentice,” as if that’s all that Trump has ever done.

Throughout, Trump sat at his table as everyone howled with laughter around him – not laughing with him, as these dinners are typically about – but clearly, at him.

Here is a video report on the news that Libyan Dictator Moammar Gadhafi’s son – Saif al Arab Gadhafi – has been killed in a NATO airstrike on the family compound in Tripoli. Three of Gadhafi’s grandsons were also reportedly killed in the strike. The report says there has been no independent confirmation of the deaths.

Here is video of Donald Trump and his wife Melania arriving at the Washington Hilton tonight to attend the White House Correspondents Dinner. As he walked into the hotel, you can hear he was booed by the reporters and cameramen nearby. Politico reports it was because he did not stop for interviews. They say Trump later returned to the group of reporters and did some interviews.

We have added a number of new polls on the 2012 Presidential race. Check the table below for all the polls added in the last several weeks.

Gov. Mitt Romney is leading the GOP Field in two of the key early states – New Hampshire and Nevada.

Interestingly, Romney also is leading Obama in both Nevada and New Hampshire. That could be huge if he turned out to be the GOP Nominee because Nevada and New Hampshire are both going to be battleground states for Electoral Votes. Winning those two states could make the difference in winning the election because Obama won both in 2008. At this point, Romney is the only GOP candidate leading Obama in those two states. We’ll see in the months to come if that continues to be the case.

2012 Polling Update: Mitt Romney Leading GOP Field, President Obama in Two Key States

Freshman senator Marco Rubio of Florida will make his first apperance on NBC’s Meet the Press tomorrow morning, May 1rst, 2011.

Rubio was scheduled to appear on Meet the Press in September of 2010 to face off against his former rivals, Charlie Crist (I) and Kendrick Meek (D), during the 2010 Florida senatorial race. The illness of Rubio’s Father prevented him from attending the event.

I am told by sources that tomorrows discussions will center on the debt, energy/gas prices, and possibly foreign policy.

Rubio has been a fiscal hawk since announcing his primary run in 2009. He has never waivered from his message of reducing government spending.

Meet the Press airs on NBC from 9-10 am on Sunday. Check local listings for the time in your area.

Here is video of Charles Krauthammer being asked to respond to Donald Trump’s statement that he is a “sad fool” after Krauthammer compared Trump to “Al Sharpton” and a “bar drunk.”

Krauthammer told Matt Lewis that Trump is “completely wrong” because “I’m a very happy guy.” He said he had no interest in continuing the “Trump affair,” and said he had “run out of adjectives” for Trump. Therefore, Krauthammer said, “I’ll let him have the last word.”

Here’s a great new ad issued overnight by the Indiana GOP which praises Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels for his record of serious accomplishment in the state.

Indiana’s legislative session ended late last night, and Daniels has said he would wait until the session was over to decide on whether he would run for President. His answer could come very soon, because he has said he would not keep people waiting long.

This ad is very effective in setting forth his record of results that matter. Americans are starved for fiscally responsible, job-creating results.

Is this ad a signal Daniels is going to run, or is it pressure from the Indiana GOP hoping to persuade him to run?

Now the White House is lying to try and cover-up their threat to remove a San Francisco Chronicle reporter from the White House Press Pool because she dared to film a protest that occurred at an Obama Fundraiser last week. The paper says in a statement that now the White House is denying they ever issued a threat, which the editor says, “is not a truthful response.”

If this were a Republican President, this story would be leading the broadcast of every network. But from the Obama-worshipping media – not a peep except from the Chronicle.

Here is video of Charles Krauthammer on Washington Insider where he destroyed the liberals who were complaining about how Donald Trump tried to “De-legitimize” President Obama through calling for him to show his Birth Certificate. Krauthammer, who is no fan of Trump, pointed out the obvious hypocrisy in their attacks by reminding them of how they tirelessly tried to De-legitimize the Presidency of George W. Bush by saying he stole the 2000 Election.

Here is video of former Ambassador John Bolton speaking to the NRA today where he said that President Obama is “following the Mexican line” when it comes to the high amount of drug violence on the Mexican side of the U.S. Border. Bolton said Obama agrees that much of the violence is being caused by guns from the United States. Bolton refutes that as simply not accurate, and says Obama and other liberals are hoping to use this argument as a way to pass more gun control laws in the U.S. and internationally.

As much as we’ve heard this gushing drivel from the media about Obama, it is still shocking.

Here is video of Chris Matthews and panel today on MSNBC just gushing about Barack Obama and how he looked during his photo-op stop in Alabama today to tour some of the Tornado devastation.

Matthews just goes on and on, saying:

“If you think about him as a guy (closes his eyes) out there in the sun, with the sun in his face, walking around looking like a cowboy – sleeves rolled up – he wins. . . . Here he is out in the sun, shirtsleeves – he’s always been fit – looking like a million bucks, looking like a guy.”

Simply unbelievable.

Exit Question: Do you think Obama looks like “a cowboy” here?

Here is video of a taped message Gov. Mitt Romney sent to the 2011 NRA Convention. Romney thanked the organization and members for all it does to defend the 2nd Amendment Rights of Americans. Romney called for adhering to the U.S. Constitution, and keeping the nation the way the Founders intended – where the people are sovereign rather than the government. Romney said, “I believe in America, I believe in Free Enterprise,” and declared, “I don’t apologize for America, because I believe in America. I believe in freedom and opportunity. I believe in the Constitution as it was written and intended by the Founders.”

Romney seemed to take a veiled shot at Barack Obama toward the end by saying he joined with Americans who are “proud to place their hands over their hearts when they hear the strains of their National Anthem.”

Here is complete video of likely 2012 GOP Presidential Candidate Herman Cain’s outstanding speech to the National Rifle Association’s Convention today. Cain built his speech off the Declaration of Independence, where it guarantees the right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” He reminded listeners what the Declaration says to do when those rights are endangered. It goes on to say that when any form of Government becomes oppressive, it is the right of the people to “alter or abolish” it. Cain declared, “We’ve got some altering and abolishing to do!” The crowd gave him a standing ovation.

The Daily Caller is reporting that increasing numbers of insiders are saying they expect former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee to jump into the 2012 GOP Presidential Nomination race. Huckabee is being careful not to announce, form an exploratory committee or hire staff because if he does, he will have to give up his Fox News weekly program. But several people close to Huckabee are saying that all signs point to him joining the race “this summer,” although one insider says Huckabee knows he’s dealing with around a “June 1 deadline”:

THE DAILY CALLER: Rumors swirled in the blogosphere mid-week that former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee would not run for president in 2012. In denying the speculation, those in Huckabee’s corner revealed just how likely it is that Huckabee will run this cycle. . . . “He has not made a final decision yet as to what he is going to do but I do know he has been talking with people – a lot of folks who have encouraged him to run,” Stewart said. “He has met with a lot of political folks who have told him what it could take for him to win. And he talked to some major donors to make sure that he could raise the funds necessary to compete this year.” . . .

The Huffington Post’s Jon Ward reported Thursday that one of Huckabee’s “key supporters,” former South Carolina Governor David M. Beasley, believed the Huckabee would likely get in the race, especially now that Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour is out. “It looks like things continue to fall in place,” Beasley said. “You know, like Haley Barbour getting out — another southern governor who could take votes.” . . . . Read More

If Huckabee gets in, he will be very formidable – especially in the early states of Iowa and South Carolina. He is running strong in most national polls against Obama. I have had the sense that he is not going to run – but I may be reading it wrong according to these insiders.

Insiders Saying Gov. Mike Huckabee Likely to Get in the 2012 Presidential Race

Here is video of Herman Cain talking to NewsMax recently about his likely 2012 run for the GOP Presidential Nomination. Cain has already formed a “Presidential Exploratory Committee,” and said he will announce an official decision on running within the next month or two.

The “Hermanator” blasted Obama’s Stimulus boondoggle as a lack of understanding that the best stimulus is private sector investment and job creation, rather than Government spending.

He hammered Obama for instructing his Justice Department not to enforce the law of the land – the Defense of Marriage Act. Cain called that an “impeachable offense,” because it is Obama’s express duty to enforce the law, not to “breach his oath.”

Cain said he believes the “voters aren’t stupid,” as Obama seems to think they are. As a result, Cain believes he can beat President Obama in 2012.

Herman Cain continues to be very impressive every time I hear him. I do think he is going to be the person who benefits most from the debates. It will give him exposure to more voters across the country, and he has the potential of being the candidate who can pull a huge surprise in Iowa and beyond.
