New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has said repeatedly he has no intentions of running for President in 2012. But a group of Iowa GOP businessmen are not taking no for an answer. They are flying to New Jersey today (Tuesday) to meet with Christie over dinner, where they will try and persuade him he needs to get in the 2012 race for President:
DAILY CALLER: As Republicans seek the best candidate to challenge President Barack Obama in 2012, some Iowa Republican donors are wooing a reluctant Chris Christie, saying the New Jersey governor’s blunt style makes him the man for the job.
Next Tuesday (May 31), about half a dozen businessmen from Iowa — which holds the first nominating contest in the presidential race — will make the case to Christie over dinner at the governor’s mansion for his entering the contest. . . . . Read More
There is outrage in Syria in the wake of the reported torture and killing of a 13-year-old Syrian boy by the Syrian Police. Protesters poured into the streets for mass demonstrations against the regime of Syrian Dictator Bashar al-Assad. Assad has put down protests against his regime with brute force and intimidation for weeks.
This link goes to a YouTube video that shows the unspeakable torture aftermath of the 13-year-old boy (Hamza Al-Khateeb), who is now the face of the Syrian Protest Movement. How anyone could do this to another human being is hard to grasp. BE ADVISED that it is extremely graphic and disturbing.
Here is video of Charles Krauthammer on Fox News last night, where he was asked about Sarah Palin’s Bus Tour to Historic Sites going on right now. Krauthammer described it as, “more eccentric than usual, this event. She says she is going around to highlight ‘the foundation of the country.’ I don’t want to be picky, but generally we say the ‘founding’ of the country. I know I’ll get email on that.”
Krauthammer said he thinks Palin is working to keep her “brand” alive, and the bus tour is certainly getting a lot of attention.
Here is video of Gov. Sarah Palin talking to reporters in an impromptu Q & A outside her hotel near the Gettysburg Battlefield as she continues her Bus Tour of some of America’s Historic Sites.
The raw video shows Palin taking questions from the media, and answering in her unique style. Palin was asked if she decides to run, would her campaign be more “non-traditional”:
Palin responded with: “Oh, it would definitely be unconventional and nontraditional, knowing us.”
On the odds of her running, Palin said she really did not know: “I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. It’s still a matter of looking at the field and considering much. There truly is a lot to consider before you throw yourself out there in the name of service to the public because its so all-consuming.”
Here is a video report by CNN’s Dana Bash on the bizarre controversy that has erupted over Democrat Rep. Anthony Weiner’s Twitter account, which apparently sent a “lewd photo” to the account of a Seattle woman over the weekend. It was quickly deleted, and Weiner claims his account was “hacked,” and the picture sent without his knowledge.
However, Dana Bash reports that neither the FBI nor the Capitol Police have been asked to investigate the alleged “hacking” incident. Conservative Andrew Breitbart has been leading the charge to get at what happened here, which has led many Left-wing sites to come to the defense of Weiner.
I’m not sure what happened here, but you would think when a member of Congress claims his account has been “hacked,” it ought to be looked into thoroughly. If the hacking took place, you would expect Rep. Weiner to call for that official investigation promptly.
