President Obama Reacts to Downgrade of U.S. Credit Rating by Calling for Tax Increases, Blaming Everyone But Himself – Video 8/8/11

Here is video of President Obama reacting (finally) to Standard & Poor’s decision to downgrade the U.S. Credit Rating from AAA to AA+.

In his statement, Obama took his typical lecturing tone, refusing to take one ounce of responsibility despite spending the United States into oblivion during his first 2 1/2 years in office. He blamed everyone else, and pushed for tax increases! As usual he never uses the word “tax,” but continued to cloak his intentions with euphemisms like “shared sacrifice,” “revenue increases,” “a balanced approach,” etc. Following his typical playbook, Obama continues to try and use every crisis as a way to push his agenda of higher taxes and bigger Government.

You will be relieved to know that Obama promised that he and his team will stay at the job until they get it done.

If you’re going to be chastising Obama for not taking responsibility for this development, how’s about being honest and shining some of that so-called light from your lighthouse on the Republicans and their willful defiance and rejection of fiscal reality. Revenues need to be added in addition to cutting spending. Don’t conservatives know how any of this works any more? Reagan raised taxes many times and you all practically deify him. Then again, most of you supposedly love Jesus, too, yet spit all over His teachings. “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” It would be nice, for their sake. It sure as hell isn’t here on earth, and definitely not in Republican America.http://www.businessinsider.com/sp-does-not-believe-the-bush-tax-cuts-will-get-lifted-in-2012-2011-8

Like it or not, Obama is the only President to preside over a downgrade.

If Obama had agreed to “cut, cap, and balance,” there would be no downgrade.

Republicans passed the Ryan budget which addressed spending and entitlement reform.  Obama ridiculed it in a speech.  The senate voted it down (57-40) on a near party line vote.

Republicans passed Cut Cap and Balance which addressed spending.  Harry Reid tabled it in the Senate allowing no debate or vote.

President Downgrade and Democrats controlled the house and senate for 2 years yet passed no budget, and did not address spending (except to spend more) or entitlements (except to add another one; Obamacare).  Obama finally submitted a proposed budget which was rejected 97-0 in the Senate.  Then, in April,  he asked for a “clean” debt increase with no spending cuts whatsoever.

He’s called for compromise and “balanced approach”, yet I defy you to produce his specific proposals.   They don’t exist.

So, how again are Republicans “willfully defying” and “rejecting” fiscal reality?
