Karl Rove Attacks Rick Perry for His Warning to the Federal Reserve Chairman – Video 8/16/11

Lest you think Texas Gov. Rick Perry is just like former President George W. Bush, just listen to Karl Rove attack Perry today.

Rove was reacting to Perry’s warning shot last night to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke that he better not be considering revving up money-printing before Election Day next year to try and help Barack Obama get re-elected. Rove attacked Perry as being “unpresidential,” and acting like a “cowboy.”

While I have always liked Karl Rove, he is not always right in his political instincts. This episode shows that Rick Perry is his own person, not controlled by the GOP establishment, and that he intends to be bold in saying what he thinks. I think Perry was looking for a chance to say what he did yesterday, and his message that people are watching what the Fed is doing between now and Election Day was delivered unmistakably clear.
