Gov. Rick Perry Back in Texas After Week-Long Campaign Swing; Takes a Swipe at Obama’s 2008 Slogan, “Change You Can Believe In” – Video 8/20/11
Texas Gov. Rick Perry has returned home to Austin, Texas after a full week on the campaign trail, where he spent time in three key early-voting states: South Carolina, Iowa, and New Hampshire.
Perry told supporters in Austin that “it’s time to get America working again.” He tweaked President Obama’s 2008 campaign slogan – “Change you can believe in” – by saying when he talks about “change,” “I’m not talking about the rhetoric of change, I’m talking about the record of change.”
Perry’s wife Anita told the crowd that the women in South Carolina, where Perry announced his candidacy, told her to “lip up” – meaning look in the mirror and put on your lipstick – and “charge up to New Hampshire” to help her husband with the campaign.
