A new Public Policy Polling poll out of South Carolina shows Gov. Rick Perry opening up a 23-point lead over Gov. Mitt Romney, 36%-13%.
Gov. Sarah Palin runs third in the poll with 10%, followed by Herman Cain at 9%. Michele Bachmann has dropped back to 7%, tied with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Perry has had a great month, but it is still too early to tell whether he is just enjoying a great bounce from his entry into the race, or whether a more fundamental and lasting shift has taken place.
