Devastating New Mitt Romney Ad Features former Mexican President Praising Rick Perry for his In-State Tuition Policy – Video 9/29/11

Here is a devastating new Mitt Romney ad attacking Texas Gov. Rick Perry for supporting in-state tuition for the children of illegal aliens in Texas.

The ad first points out that Perry’s position puts him on the side of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama on the issue, and then it really lowers the boom. It features video of former Mexican President Vicente Fox praising Rick Perry for his position – for “giving access to Mexican migrants to universities in Texas.”

The Romney ad team has been beyond great so far, and one thing this demonstrates is that if Romney winds up winning the GOP Nomination, he will be prepared to go after Barack Obama in a very effective way when it comes to political ads – something the McCain Campaign was never willing to do. The Romney Campaign has a “mean, junk-yard dog” side to it, and that’s what you need, frankly, to win a General Election against a Democrat who is the darling of the media.

LOL what a bunch of baloney. Romney will have a very big problem going after Obama on Obamcare for instance.
How can Romney have a debate with Obama about Obamacare, for instance?ROMNEY: I will repeal Obamacare.OBAMA: Why would you want to do that; I modeled Obamacare after Romneycare?

Chrissie, thank you for the defending the good Governor from the Lone Star state!

As usual, Slick Mitt, is playing fast and loose with the facts…just like his daddy used to do in Michigan.

I agree, but Plouffe and Axelrod are not going to be lay down Sallies and make NO mistake about it, they are salivating for Romney…he neutralizes the Obama Care debate, his decades long of flip flops, his fibs, and, sorry, but let’s be brutally honest his Mormon background, in terms of trying to alter & curtail personal life style choices (like alcohol, caffeine, sex, etc.) of all Americans, with LDS President, Thomas Monson, in the Oval Office.

Carlos, you are absolutely right that Plouffe and Axelrod are waiting to go after Romney. They will be savage in doing so, and I’m sure they will go after the very things you mentioned. I was simply commenting that Romney does have a fine ad team working for him, and they appear willing to go after opponents in much tougher fashion than John McCain did against Obama.

Romney’s biggest problem is “RomneyCare” when it comes to a possible ad-campaign against him. I doubt Obama’s people would overtly use his Mormon faith against him in TV ads. But they will certainly do so with a whisper campaign around the nation. Obama would probably depend on his surrogates in the media to raise the Mormon issue for him.

That’s what Obama will try to do to Romney. So far, Romney has addressed it fairly well, considering it is a devastating issue for him. Romney has to continue to emphasize that whatever the past has been, he is 100% committed to repealing ObamaCare – something Obama will not be able to say.

Brian, I totally agree, his campaign is definitely into overdrive and the ads are excellent, even though I might not agree with the content…though I remain with Perry, as of right now, my gut tells me Mitt pulls it out. (Republican cycle of picking next in line, narrative about being more competitive with indies/moderates in the general, economic problem solver, and Perry, though not a Bushie, but being from Texas makes it an uphill battle, overall)

Believe you me, I was with McCain camp in Florida, un officially, and it was a sad state affairs of how they handled the Sunshine State, in Summer/Fall 2008.

As for the Mormon angle, yes, “whisper campaign”, no doubt…shoring up some blue states, and trying to drive wedges in Virgina, NC, Florida, etc. with certain evangelical/Christian denominations, which are inherently wary of the LDS. (Red/swing states Obama won and wants to retain)

I’m afraid that’s right, Carlos. I want to see someone besides Romney get the nomination, but it is increasingly looking to me like he will be the nominee. I think he can beat Obama, but I’d much rather see Perry, Cain, or Gingrich get the nomination. There’s still a chance.
