Herman Cain Calls Rick Perry “Insensitive” for Association with Hunting Camp Known by Racist Name; Perry Campaign Denying WAPO Story – Video 10/2/11

Here is video of GOP Presidential Candidate Herman Cain on ABC News’ “This Week” where he was asked to react to a Washington Post story today that says Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s family has been connected to a hunting camp that for years had a rock near the entrance with the word “Nig*erhead” on it – a name the hunting place was reportedly called. The word was painted over, but it is unclear exactly when.

Cain said it shows great “insensitivity” by Perry for the place to be called that name, and for him to be associated to it. Cain actually said the word, which Christianne Amanpour refrained from saying.

Rick Perry’s campaign is denying the reports by the Washington Post:

POLITICO: A campaign official told POLITICO: “Governor Perry’s last visit to the Crooked River Ranch was December 2006. He stopped leasing the property in 2007.”

In addition, the following statement was issued by Ray Sullivan, communications director, RickPerry.org:

“A number of claims made in the story are incorrect, inconsistent, and anonymous, including the implication that Rick Perry brought groups to the lease when the word on the rock was still visible. The one consistent fact in the story is that the word on a rock was painted over and obscured many years ago.
