Herman Cain Interview with the WSJ; Believes Wall Street Protests Orchestrated to Help Obama; Discusses Impact of His “999 Plan” – Video 10/5/11

Here is video of an interview Herman Cain has done with the Wall Street Journal. Cain said he is emerging “as the people’s candidate.”

Cain said he believes the “Occupy Wall Street” protests are being done to help the Obama Administration – to distract from Obama’s failed policies. In response to the Leftist protesters’ complaints about income disparity in the United States, Cain said:

“Don’t blame Wall Street – don’t blame the big banks. If you don’t have a job and you’re not rich, blame yourself.”

Cain said his “999 Plan” would raise the same amount of revenue as the current system, but would get rid of all the tax loopholes and would broaden the base of the system. Cain went through an example of a family of four making $50,000 a year, they would come out to the good under his plan by around $2000. However, when asked about the poor who have no job and are not now paying any taxes, he could no deny that their tax payments would obviously increase because they would now pay the 9% national sales tax. Cain only responded that his plan would so energize the U.S. Economy that those now without a job would be able to get a job – which is the real goal, after all.

I find it disgusting that Mr Cain who I used to think so highly of would put the blame for someone being out of work on the worker. If you are not rich it’s your own fault he stated.
Really Mr Cain? If my husband lost his job because the business closed then it’s his fault. And if we were not born with silver spoons in our mouths and are just simple hard working people and not rich then we are less than you are. That’s an elitist statement and it will come back to haunt you. I have never heard of any candidate either from the GOP or Democratic party say anything so demeaning to the American people. Shame on you.

Hooper – if you will look at the context of the remarks, he was talking about the Leftist Wall Street Protesters, not the average American citizen. Instead of expecting the Government to give them handouts, he was saying those protesters ought to be out working hard to better themselves. Cain’s entire focus is turning the economy and creating jobs to help people – not to put people down.

The LEFTIST protesters as you call them are also members of AARP…they come from all walks of life. Educate yourself. They are NOT all leftists..they are unions and college teachers and people who are out of work.
