Herman Cain Asked “Should Abortion be Part of the Political Discussion?”; Answer – “No It Should Not” – Video 10/24/11

Here is video of Herman Cain on Fox & Friends this morning trying to clarify and do damage control on his recent remarks regarding abortion. Last week, in an interview, Cain said:

“It’s not the Government’s role, or anybody else’s role to make that decision. It ultimately gets down to a choice that that family or that mother has to make – not me as President, not some politician, not a bureaucrat. . .”

Cain was first asked by Gretchen Carlson, “Should abortion be part of the political discussion?” And Herman Cain answered, “No it should not, quite frankly.”

What?

Cain went on to once again reiterate his Pro-Life position, and explain his remarks are being taken out of context. But how, as a conservative, can you say abortion should not be part of the political discussion? It seems the more Cain tries to make this issue go away, the worse it gets for him. I am one who has great respect for Herman Cain, and when this all started, I simply could not believe there was anything to this. But I am mystified by how Herman Cain ever let this become an issue with such bizarre comments, and why he would now say the issue of abortion should not even be part of the political discussion.

On his gaffe that he would consider releasing terrorist prisoners at Guantanamo Bay in exchange for a captured U.S. Soldier, he said he “misspoke,” and in the heat of the moment “forgot” that we held terrorist prisoners there!
