A new ABC News / Washington Post poll has Gov. Mitt Romney with a 2-point lead over Herman Cain in the 2012 GOP Presidential Nomination race. Romney leads Cain 25%-23%. Just over one month ago, Romney led Cain 25%-16% in the previous ABC News / WAPO Poll.

The poll also has good news for Newt Gingrich and even Rick Perry. Gingrich is now at 12%, up from 7% at the beginning of October. Rick Perry got 14% support, just down slightly from the 16% he received a month ago. It appears Perry’s slide may be ending and he is stabilizing.

This poll was conducted entirely after the Herman Cain harassment controversy broke, and Cain seems to be holding his own right at the top of the field. It certainly appears it is a four-person race now for the nomination between Romney, Cain, Gingrich, and Perry.

Although I don’t put a lot of faith in polls, I’m glad to see Perry stabilizing. But remember, we won’t be casting the first votes until the beginning January–that’s two whole months!–and a lot can happen between now and then. Some of these polls also have funny internals–i.e, less than 300 people surveyed–and that’s supposed to be representative of 30 million people?

Remember, McCain polled at third place until he won a surprise victory in NH. Reagan didn’t even win Iowa. Anything can happen. I sure hope the guy in third place comes through, though!

I don’t.  In-state tuition for illegals and government HIV shots for 12 year old girls.  Bad judgement and not in line with good morals.

And he admitted he was wrong to go about the HPV immunization as he did. Interestingly it’s now being looked at for boys too. It’s a virus, communicable , and it’s outcome can be costly and downright deadly. Like any other vaccine, there was an opt out, and it never made it to law, did it?
Sometimes we have to deal with the reality’s. A girl can be a virgin on her wedding night, and her husband can have had just one experience before her. If he was exposed to HPV, now she is too.

    Morality can’t be legislated.

And this is whole new ballgame. The pundits put a lot of stock in past trends in 2010, and the results shellacked them all.
I don’t put much into NH and Iowa. regardless of their past standing. I don’t consider either place more knowledgeable, savvy, or sophisticated as any other voter in this country. Especially in today’s environment. They represent their regional state and economic interests not the country as a whole.

I agree with you–all I’m saying is that ANYTHING can happen.

    Exactly, it ain’t over yet.
