Jon Huntsman on “Meet the Press” Says Mitt Romney is “Unelectable Against Barack Obama” – Video 11/6/11

Here is video of GOP Presidential Candidate Jon Huntsman on Meet the Press where he said Gov. Mitt Romney is “unelectable against Barack Obama.”

As much as Huntsman might want people to believe that, the facts just don’t bear that out. Whether you like Romney or not, the polling data suggests the exact opposite – that Romney puts more blue states in play than any other candidate, and that he would actually be a very strong candidate against Obama. Romney would undoubtedly do well in New Hampshire against Obama – a state Obama won in 2008. He puts Michigan in play, with his father having been Governor there many years ago. Romney would run strong in Colorado and Nevada – both states with sizable Mormon populations. Obama would be devastated if he lost those states. So Huntsman’s claim is simply not supported by current polling data or common sense. It is Jon Huntsman who is unelectable in the GOP Nominating process.

Huntsman is a decent man and though he will not get elected, he has more GOP credentials than Willard Mitt Romney, whom in 1994 ran to the LEFT of Teddy Kennedy and characterized himself as an “independent” during the Reagan-Bush era, even going so far as saying he did not want to return to that stage, in time !?!?!?

You are right that Romney’s father was Governor of Michigan, but I would remind you, respectfully, that he was man who was born on a polygamous compound in Mexico and ran for President in 1968, changing his views, mid-way, on Viet Nam and asserting that on a trip to Viet Nam, our generals and military brass had ‘brainwashed’ him, about the war…

Nixon, later made him HUD secretary.

As for Colorado and Nevada, yes, they have large LDS population but even in ’10, when the state GOP voters picked the wrong candidates for Senate (Angle over Lowden or Tarkanian, Buck over Norton, etc), we didn’t take those, now, purple states.

Lastly, as opposed to Romney, it is not on Huntsman’s agenda to attempt to outlaw, curtail or de-limit alcohol, coffee, tea, caffeine, legal pornography, et al,

    Carlos,
I’m not a Mitt Romney fan. He is a chameleon. But I do think he is electable. All his past issue positions that drive us crazy, as conservatives, are things Obama can’t really attack him for – other than to try and make him the candidate with no core.
