A new poll out of New Hampshire is sure to send shockwaves through the GOP Presidential Nomination race. Magellan has a new poll in the Granite State showing Newt Gingrich vaulting to within two-points of Mitt Romney there! Romney has staked his entire campaign on New Hampshire being a sure win for him. He hopes to do well in Iowa, but has camped out in New Hampshire, making it a likely do or die state for him.
It’s too early to tell if this is a trend in New Hampshire. Gingrich is surging everywhere right now, but whether he will have staying power or not is yet to be seen.
It should be noted that Ron Paul is moving up in New Hampshire too, as he is in Iowa, according to some polls. I don’t think it can be discounted that Ron Paul could pull a shocker in Iowa, with his devoted supporters and the Caucus system that plays into their organizing strength. If he were to win Iowa, he would get a real boost in New Hampshire. It’s amazing that only 45 days away from voting in Iowa, everything is still this unsettled. It could be a wild ride.
