While Explaining His Recent Interview Trouble on Libya, Herman Cain Suggests “The Taliban” Trying to be “Part of the Government” in Tripoli – Video 11/18/11

Here is video of Herman Cain today defending his Libya Gaffe earlier this week in an interview with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel Newspaper. As he tried to explain why he was so hesitant in his response, Cain suggested “the Taliban” is part of the Government that has taken over there:

THE HILL: GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain committed another potentially damaging foreign policy gaffe on Friday, when he inferred that the Taliban posed a threat to the Libyan government.

Speaking at a press conference in Orlando, Cain was defending his performance in front of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel’s editorial board earlier this week, in which he searched for words and sat in awkward silence after being asked if he agreed with the Obama administration’s policy towards Libya.

“Do I agree with siding with the opposition? Do I agree with saying that Qadhafi should go? Do I agree that they now have a country where you’ve got Taliban and Al Qaeda that’s going to be part of the government?” Cain asked reporters. “Do I agree with not knowing the government was going to — which part was he asking me about? I was trying to get him to be specific and he wouldn’t be specific.”

The Taliban is an Islamist militant group based in Afghanistan and Pakistan, while Libya is in northern Africa. . . . Read More

Good grief.  The voters are certainly inclined to give Herman Cain multiple chances but he isn’t even trying!  Why on earth isn’t he studying up on the world?  It’s not good enough to say “I’ll have good advisors”.  He needs to be learning what’s going on in the world if he wants to be a world leader. He’s beginning to look lazy, like a kid who just can’t get around to getting his homework done.

Well, I can understand Cain’s slip ups, although this is not technically a slip up. The Taliban is where al-queda stemmed from, and indeed they exist more so in Afghan. and Pakistan.  However, al-queda has infiltrated Libya (flying their flags on courthouses etc), in fact from what I’ve read on Fox and other sites, Libya was one of the biggest sources of IEDs into Iraq, hurting our soldiers, and that was not from the Libyan govt (Quadaffy, but from al-queda).

Al-queda is certainly trying to influence Libya, and al-queda stemmed from Taliban, so I can see how Cain used Taliban rather than al-queda. Its all radical Islam, just in different stages of development. Unfortunately I still cannot vote for Cain, I like the guy, but as he does not have a media to protect him as they did with Barry in 2008, Cain is not the most potent repub nominee to kick out Barry next November.

I think Cain got stunned by the media hit on the allegations of sexual misconduct.  And you are seeing the effects.  If he is arguing for being overly cautious or not knowing what is being asked it is because he got whacked.  This is not a good sign and he should — at least I think I would — call up every resource and put it on the line to override this rough patch.  This takes incredible courage.

Yeah, Blind Eye. I think Cain was really stunned by the attacks on his character, and it has taken a physical and emotional toll on him. That’s having an effect on him in every other way.

Oh please! They are all the same…. so what? Shame on conservatives. You should be the ones pulling out a mulititude of gaffs by the Obummer in chief, Kagan, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, The Clintons.. and now we run around enjoying this about a conservative that would be the perfect repudiation to this President’s racist administration. Rev. Wright anyone? 57 states anyone? Muslim helping to found this country? Spread the wealth? ..
