    No doubt he would. Newt would mangle Obama…and he knows it.

    Yes, Newt would likely wipe the floor with Obama but a good debate does not necessarily win the election.  I think the left fears Romney more even though he may not be as good a debater as Newt.  The left is hoping for Newt and if you watched Morning Joe today you can see what they will throw at him (care of Morning Joe, Mika and panel).  It is quite a list and they almost couldn’t stop themselves — it looked like they could have gone on for hours.

    The attacks would be relentless on Newt. But Newt has demostrated an ability to win people over with the power of his arguments. I would not underestimate his ability to change a lot of minds. People are desperate for solutions, and I think there are many who will rally to someone that comes across like they actually know what to do to turn the nation around.
