Two New Polls Show Newt Gingrich Leading in Iowa Less than a Month Ahead of the Iowa Caucuses – 12/6/11

Two new polls in Iowa shows Newt Gingrich continues to hold a sizeable lead there, less than one-month ahead of the January 3, 2012 Iowa Caucuses.

An ABC News / Washington Post Poll has Gingrich with a 15-point lead over both Mitt Romney and Ron Paul, 33%-18%. Rick Perry was the only other candidate in double-digits at 11%.

In a new Public Policy Polling survey, Gingrich had a nine-point lead over Ron Paul, 27%-18%, with Mitt Romney 11-points behind at 16%. Michele Bachmann was at 13%, followed by Rick Perry at 9%.

In the 21-day average of polls from Iowa, Newt Gingrich now holds an 11.8 point lead over Mitt Romney, 27.9% – 16.1%, with Ron Paul at 15.9%.
