Newt Gingrich Laughs Off Glenn Beck Calling Him a “Progressive”: “I Worked with Reagan for Eight Years in Defeating the Soviet Empire” – Audio 12/12/11

Here is audio of Newt Gingrich today laughing off criticism from Glenn Beck that he is a “progressive.” Gingrich laughed at the idea of being called a progressive, and then proceeded to remind everyone that as Speaker of the House he led in four consecutive balanced budgets and a reform of the Welfare system. He also invoked Ronald Reagan, noting that he worked with Reagan for eight years in defeating the Soviet Empire. Essentially, Gingrich is saying if you want to call him a “progressive,” then your standard is ridiculous.

  • Joe Conservative

The why the Hell did he say the four Freedoms are still intact, implying he is in support of them? Freedom from want is Socialist, and leads to Communism if not kept in check.

Methinks he speaks too quickly to truly know what he is saying, and whether or not his comments have been run through the filter of conservative morality, or are just offerings from his multifaceted mega-mind that roll off the tongue like nothing more than glib tossed salad.

“Ooh! Colorful! Crisp! Must be right, because it sounds so refreshing and tasty!” It’s just like when Obama was campaigning to become President – no-one dissected what he was saying (in large enough numbers) to understand exactly what he was saying – Obama was espousing a desire to totally rewrite the US Constitution as if living in a Superman Comics Bizarro world (ways of life on the Bizarro planet being opposite of what the source item, Earth’s Superman and friends, was)

And so Newt slips in this Socialist comment like a needle into the skin of a briskly massaged shoulder. Most don’t feel it, because it was delivered amidst conservative-sounding chatter, but that sharp needle of Socialist “Okey-Dokey”ness went in just the same…
