Here is video of an extensive interview CNN’s Wolf Blitzer did with Rep. Ron Paul back in 2008 when the issue of newsletters written under Ron Paul’s name back in the 1990′s surfaced with a series of startling statements about blacks. The newsletters at issue had statements about black men, particularly in the District of Columbia. The video report in Part 1 details some of the statements, and then gets Ron Paul to respond.

Ron Paul says he did not write the statements himself and does not know who did. He repudiated the statements strongly, and said he does not share those views in any way.

With Ron Paul now near the top of the polls in Iowa, this issue is being raised about him today in a number of places. Also, with Paul going all the way back to the 1960′s and attacking Gingrich over his draft deferments during Vietnam, it will be interesting to see if Gingrich, the Fox News moderators, or any of the other candidates raises this story in tonight’s debate.
