Mitt Romney Gives First “Sunday Show” Interview in Nearly Two Years; Talks about the Campaign, Iraq, His Dad and Dealing with Wife, Ann’s, MS – Video 12/18/11
PART 1
PART 2
Here is video of Gov. Mitt Romney appearing of Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace for an extensive interview. This was his first “Sunday Show” interview in almost 2 years.
Romney said Obama’s policies have only made the U.S. Economy worse. He bashed Obama for failing to lead, saying he has instead chosen to campaign for re-election and attack Republicans.
Romney stood by his characterization of Newt Gingrich as “zany” and “unreliable.”
On Iraq, Romney refused to second-guess our involvement in Iraq, saying there was no way we could know in 2003 what we know now, but he did say there are lessons to be learned. Romney said the action to invade Iraq to take out Saddam Hussein was “appropriate at the time” because of the intelligence around the world that said he had Weapons of Mass Destruction. He did say he believes it is a mistake to take all our troops out of Iraq now, and that he would have worked out a status of forces agreement with the Iraqis and left enough troops in place to keep the Iranians from taking control of the country.
In the last few minutes of the interview, Wallace asks Romney about his Dad, George Romney, who also tried to run for President, only to see his campaign fall apart after he made the remark he had been “brainwashed” about Vietnam. Romney also spoke very movingly about his wife Ann, and what it was like to go through her being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. This was the best interview I’ve ever seen Romney give.
