Krauthammer: Obama’s Evacuation of U.S. Troops the “Precipitating Event” for Wave of Attacks in Iraq – Video 12/22/11
Here is video of Charles Krauthammer and Special Report Panel talking about the massive violence that hit Iraq yesterday. Krauthammer pointed out that this is exactly why our Generals wanted to keep a residual force in Iraq to “protect and keep the balance of power” there. By pulling ALL U.S. Combat Forces out of Iraq, President Obama has played right into the hands of the Iranians and Al-Qaeda elements.
Krauthammer also said: “The evacuation of all Americans, which ended just a few days ago, was the precipitating event for this assault on the Coalition Government. . . This could be catastrophic. . . Obama had probably expected a decent amount of time would pass until all of this happened – it’s happening right now.”
Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki has used the withdrawal of U.S. Troops as an opportunity to move against his opposition, which is making the threat of Civil War in Iraq a very real possibility. The presence of U.S. Troops in the country had apparently been keeping him from doing so.
When the panel was asked if U.S. Troops will “ever be back in Iraq,” Krauthammer said “Never,” A.B. Stoddard said “no,” and Stephen Hayes said, “Not as long as President Obama is in office.”
