Attacks Continue in Iraq Following Obama’s Politically-Motivated Pullout of U.S. Combat Forces – Video 12/26/11

More violence in Iraq.

A suicide car bomb exploded outside the Interior Ministry in Baghdad killing at least six people and wounding 30 more. This follows a wave of attacks last week after President Obama – against the advice of his Generals – pulled all U.S. Combat Forces out of Iraq so he could trumpet to the American Public that he had made good on his promise to end the Iraq War.

In the wake of the pullout, Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki (a Shia Muslim) moved against his political opponents, ordering the Vice-President (Sunni Muslim) arrested. The VP fled to avoid arrest, and the Maliki crackdown now risks all-out Civil War in Iraq between the Muslim and ethnic factions. Many military and Foreign Policy observers say even a very small U.S. Troop presence in the country would have kept a lid on this kind of violence, but the precipitous withdrawal has put the future of the struggling democracy in Iraq in great jeopardy.
