NOTE: These are the final certified vote totals for the Iowa Caucuses. On election night, Romney was shown to have won by 8 votes in unofficial results. As the vote totals were certified from each precinct, Santorum led by 34 votes with all but 8 precincts certified. However, the totals from 8 precincts could not be certified because they were either thrown away or lost. At first, the Iowa GOP would not declare Santorum the “winner” because of the missing precinct totals. But on 1/20/12, they decided to go ahead and declare Santorum the “winner” by 34 votes.
