Shocking: Liberal Alan Colmes Attacks Rick Santorum over how they Handled their Grief after the Death of their Child – Video 1/2/12

Simply unbelievable. Even for a far-Left liberal like Alan Colmes.

Here is video of Alan Colmes on Fox News with conservative Rich Lowry where they were to talk about the surging campaign of Rick Santorum and how he has been covered by the media. Colmes took the opportunity to say that Santorum will now get more scrutiny and that he will begin losing support “once they get a load of some of the crazy things he’s said and done, like taking his two-hour-old baby who died after childbirth and played with it for a couple hours so his other children would know that the child was real.”

Rick Lowry immediately defended the Santorums, hammering Colmes with, “That’s a cheap shot, Alan.” Lowry went on to tell Colmes repeatedly that his trying to “mock” Santorum for the way he dealt with the massive grief of losing a child was “beyond the pale,” and “beneath you, Alan.”

The Santorums’ decision to take their baby home for a time after death as a way of dealing with their grief and helping their other children was deeply personal, and should not be fodder for attacks by liberals. It is a fact that actually seeing the deceased’s body is an important factor in helping people to process their grief and accept the reality of what has happened. The fact that the Santorums wanted their children to see their sibling at home actually demonstrates the kind of love and care they felt, not only for their child who died, but for their living children. Not everyone deals with grief in the same way, and people should be given space to do what they believe is best for them and their family.

Can you just imagine the media firestorm if a conservative tried to use something like this against a prominent liberal politician?

On the Alan Colmes clip, watch from minute 2:42 til 2:54 for the best analogy of the media ever.  (And yes, this is a low point for Colmes.)

  • just an average voter

OMG. I am not a fan of Santorum, I had heard and read that story elsewhere and what this PO$(Colmes, and I apologize for the cursing) said about taking a passed away child and “took it home so they could play with it”, I felt disgust, pure and utter disgust at this PO$ loser Colmes. I’m not pro-life, but I am not far left, but left of center, but what that loser said about a passes away child is beyond even human.

What a sad and twisted mind this “man” has. He probably has no problem with the Born Alive bill by Barry in the IL senate either.

Yeah, I have to say, average voter, that when I heard Colmes say what he did, my mouth just dropped open. It’s hard to believe someone would stoop to this just to make a political attack.

Yes, dixielea, that is a precise analogy of the media. If Santorum wins in Iowa, he can expect the onslaught to begin.

That was pathetic by Colmes but I come to expect pathetic things from him.  Why again is he on TV?

You should switch to pro-life. Life is, well, kind of a good thing and this mentality keeps you from ever going down the sinister life-mocking road that Colmes found himself on.  It can happen to anyone if they are not heading in the right direction.

I have never liked Alan Colmes. He harps about Santorum being “far” right from the main stream, when I can’t think of anyone in the media more to the left of the mainstream then Colmes. This isn’t the first time I have been appalled by loathsome comments he’s  made and by how base both his thinking is and the tactics is willing to use. How does he think that families grieved their newborns that died prior to women give birth in hospitals (which only began in the late 1930′s)? Karen Santorum is a neonatal intensive care nurse and the mother of 7 children- end of story. Colmes comes off as a total ass. People need to be accountable for the things they say. I would like to see him ostracized. Thank God he doesn’t have any children.
