Shocking: Liberal Alan Colmes Attacks Rick Santorum over how they Handled their Grief after the Death of their Child – Video 1/2/12
Simply unbelievable. Even for a far-Left liberal like Alan Colmes.
Here is video of Alan Colmes on Fox News with conservative Rich Lowry where they were to talk about the surging campaign of Rick Santorum and how he has been covered by the media. Colmes took the opportunity to say that Santorum will now get more scrutiny and that he will begin losing support “once they get a load of some of the crazy things he’s said and done, like taking his two-hour-old baby who died after childbirth and played with it for a couple hours so his other children would know that the child was real.”
Rick Lowry immediately defended the Santorums, hammering Colmes with, “That’s a cheap shot, Alan.” Lowry went on to tell Colmes repeatedly that his trying to “mock” Santorum for the way he dealt with the massive grief of losing a child was “beyond the pale,” and “beneath you, Alan.”
The Santorums’ decision to take their baby home for a time after death as a way of dealing with their grief and helping their other children was deeply personal, and should not be fodder for attacks by liberals. It is a fact that actually seeing the deceased’s body is an important factor in helping people to process their grief and accept the reality of what has happened. The fact that the Santorums wanted their children to see their sibling at home actually demonstrates the kind of love and care they felt, not only for their child who died, but for their living children. Not everyone deals with grief in the same way, and people should be given space to do what they believe is best for them and their family.
Can you just imagine the media firestorm if a conservative tried to use something like this against a prominent liberal politician?
