Newt Gingrich: A Vote for Rick Santorum is “Functionally Helping Romney become the Nominee” – Audio 1/17/12

Here is audio of Newt Gingrich on the Laura Ingraham Show today where he said if he can “do well” in South Carolina this Saturday, the race in Florida (January 31) will “change overnight.” Gingrich believes conservatives will rally together against Romney in the days ahead.

Gingrich went after Rick Santorum by saying he does not have the experience he does at running a National Campaign, and pointed out about Santorum:

“I have a much better record of designing national campaigns than Rick Santorum, who, after all, lost re-election by the largest margin of any incumbent senator in the history of Pennsylvania.”

Gingrich said he is running much closer to Romney in both South Carolina and Florida than is Rick Santorum. He said it is his job in the next four days to convince South Carolinians that a vote for a “nice guy” like Rick Santorum is “functionally helping Romney become the nominee.”
