Ann Coulter Paints Dire Picture of Newt Gingrich as the GOP Nominee: “With Newt Gingrich you Throw Out the Baby and Keep the Bath Water” – Video 1/22/12

Here is video of Ann Coulter on Fox News this morning reacting to Newt Gingrich’s huge victory in the South Carolina Primary yesterday.

Coulter has long been a supporter of Mitt Romney, and she did her best paint a dire picture of what will happen if Newt Gingrich is the GOP Nominee. She summed it up by saying, “With Newt Gingrich you throw out the baby and keep the bath water.”

Coulter is clearly flabbergasted that voters moved to Newt Gingrich over Mitt Romney. She was beside herself in this appearance. She said South Carolina voters appear to be “returning to their Democratic roots,” following like a “mob” the “cheap shot one-liners” of Gingrich in the debates.

I don’t understand Coulter’s disconnect here.   Her books are pure unabashed direct, clear, and legitimate attacks on liberalism.  And this is exactly what Gingrich has been doing for the last several weeks.   She seems to have changed for the sake of following Christie.  If we learned anything from the McCain nomination, we learned that to win, we need someone that is willing to go on the offensive against Obama and now cower.

That’s just it: Coulter is direct, but Gingrich isn’t being direct.  Gingrich may be blunt, but he avoids the issues.  So many people in SC and probably elsewhere are unbelievably unaware that Gingrich isn’t answering the hard questions, he’s just deflecting them.  He got asked a hard question about his ex wife’s account of an “open marriage” and instead if addressing it, he deflected any damage by attacking the messenger.  It looked to me like people in the audience were too immersed in reality TV to take the election seriously.  They seemed to just be happy with a WWE smackdown rather than substance.  People need to think about the fighting and divisiveness in Washington that Obama has perpetuated, and think logically about whether Gingrich has it in him to put a stop to that or make it worse.  If you think he has the leadership qualities to bring people to agreement, watch that opening clip again of him pointing his finger at John King and yelling at him.  Do you want his temperament in the White House?

Yes.  It’s about time we had a conservative that fought the liberals instead of trying to play nice with them.  The country gets more liberal by the year because nobody has had the courage of Reagan since, um, Reagan.  You only mentioned 1 question that he “avoided” which, by the way, he answered after putting the liberal CNN in their place – the liberal media that has been fighting against hard working families trying to do what is right for decades.   Yes, it’s time to move forward and not take no for an answer – root out liberalism and defeat it soundly so we do not have to listen to platitudes while they mock our families, our children, and our faith any longer.   The stakes are way higher than temperament.  All we need is Romney to appoint one more moderate Supreme Court Justice and this country will never get back to greatness again.
