Here is video of Newt Gingrich appearing on “Meet the Press” today, one day after winning the South Carolina Primary going away.

This interview shows why Newt Gingrich won in South Carolina, and why those who are dismissing him because of his up and down past are making a big mistake.

Gingrich handled this interview flawlessly, taking every question from moderator David Gregory and using it to drive his message and agenda. He refused to allow David Gregory to call him a “lobbyist” for his work for Freddie Mac. Gingrich said he was a “strategic adviser,” and that the record shows he actually told them they needed more regulation before the collapse of the mortgage industry. He also said the record shows he testified before Congress advising them not to give more money to the mortgage giants to make high-risk loans.

Gingrich continued to call Barack Obama a “Saul-Alinsky radical,” and that he would put before the American people the stark choice between a future based on Obama’s radical agenda as opposed to returning America to the principles on which the nation was founded.

As an “outsider” Newt has been in Washington for decades and did he refuse money from Fanny and Freddy despite all his concern?  No. To say he is an outsider is like saying that John McCain was a maverick: meaningless.  Though I give him credit for his sharp candor about Obama, he still is not what he says he is, i.e., a conservative.  He was for the health care mandate and for cap and trade in 07.  People’s memories seem to be very selective only because Newt can press their buttons about Obama and come across as a forceful leader. Will that work on the rest of America?  Will his own record catch up to him?  Stay tuned to Freedom’s Lighthouse to find out!

Do you refuse your paycheck from your boss when you disagree with him? No. Gingrich’s firm was an employee, Freddie Mac was the employer. He did his work, his company got paid. End of story.
