Here is video of Charles Krauthammer tackling the attack against Newt Gingrich that he had to “resign in disgrace” after serving four years as Speaker of the House.

Krauthammer’s conclusion? “No, that’s not exactly true.” He actually paid a fine two years into his Speakership but was re-elected after that. He resigned after Republicans lost 5 seats in the 1998 midterm elections. Krauthammer said he resigned in “defeat” but not in “disgrace.”
