New Mitt Romney Ad Uses Tom Brokaw Broadcast in 1997 to Hammer Newt Gingrich over Ethics Sanctions – Video 1/28/12

Here is a new Mitt Romney ad that attacks Newt Gingrich for ethics violations while he was Speaker of the House. The entire ad is the news report of former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw reporting that Gingrich was sanctioned by House members for violations. This ad will reportedly run “heavy and statewide” in Florida this weekend leading up to Tuesday’s Florida Primary.

The Romney Campaign has very craftily tried to leave the impression that Gingrich had to resign as Speaker of the House in “disgrace” when he was sanctioned in January 1997. Actually, he did not. He served as Speaker of the House for two more years, and resigned on January 3, 1999 after the GOP lost 5 House Seats in the mid-term elections.

If Mitt Romney becomes the GOP Nominee, it will be interesting to see if is still enamored with the “fair and objective” reporting of the liberal media when they are bashing him as they try to keep Obama in power.

    Alice, did you find something objectionable about this ad in particular or something else?  I don’t see how Romney’s integrity suffers here at all.  Are you bothered by Gingrich having such dishonest ads that he has to pull them?  He pulled the one Marco Rubio objected to, and now he’s had to pull the one where he used Huckabee in a dishonest way by taking his comments out of context to make it look like Huckabee was calling Romney dishonest in 2008.  I can see how you could use the word “pathetic” in describing what Gingrich is doing . . .

    Not sure why Newt Gingrich is even running for president with such a politically damning past.  ETHICS VIOLATIONS…that’s a biggie.  How can we ever trust Newt?  Good for Romney for this lucid explanation why not to vote for Gingrich.  I don’t see anything wrong with the ad.  I hope Romney is our new president.  He’s honest and wouldn’t cheat the people.  GO ROMNEY!
