Report: Romney Staffer says Florida No Longer Just about Winning; “It’s About Destroying Gingrich” – 1/29/12

BuzzFeed’s Zeke Miller reports from Florida that the Mitt Romney Campaign no longer views winning the Florida Primary as their goal. It’s now all about “destroying” Newt Gingrich:

BUZZFEED: Mitt Romney’s goal in Florida is no longer just winning.

After Gingrich Newt scored a surprise blow-out victory in South Carolina last week, the former Massachusetts governor not only unleashed a political broadside of epic proportions.

The onslaught of attacks on Newt Gingrich from all quarters within the Republican Establishment would confirm what this report indicates. The Romney Team sees an opportunity to not only defeat Newt Gingrich, but to so ruin him that he cannot recover elsewhere. My guess is that regardless what happens in Florida, Newt Gingrich will keep going and try to make a comeback in March in the Super Tuesday states. The question will be whether he can hang on until then.

What I want to know is how stupid are these romney aides that are openly saying this nonsense?

Do they realize they will have to merge all supporters of all sides together?

These Romney aides really need to shut up if they nothing good to say!

You are exactly right. They have to try and put the pieces back together after they win the nomination. They will need conservatives to win in November. The heat of the moment has taken over. They were humiliated by the big loss in South Carolina and they are out for revenge now.
