Newt Gingrich Encourages “Consolidation” of the Conservative Vote to Stop Mitt Romney; Won’t Specifically Call on Santorum to Drop Out – Video 1/31/12

Here is video of Newt Gingrich on Fox & Friends this morning where he essentially called on Rick Santorum to drop out of the GOP Presidential race for the good of the party. He did not say that verbatim, but he did say that as long as the conservative vote remains split, Romney will continue to win. Gingrich said it is clear “I am the leading conservative,” and he hopes the conservative vote can be “consolidated” in the weeks ahead. When asked if he was calling on Santorum, he simply repeated his hope the conservative vote can be consolidated.

The problem is that Gingrich assumes he would get most of the Santorum vote. But the numbers don’t bear that out.

I am shocked and applauded that the Romney Campaign spent over
16 million and counting of negative ads.  It seems many have forgotten
that Mitt Romney started the negative campaign against Newt Gingrich in Iowa
and he tried for weeks not to respond.  During that time, many people
blamed Newt Gingrich and said he was wrong to talk about it.  It was okay
for Mitt Romney to do this.  To discredit House Speaker
Gingrich about his loyalty, admiration and being a Reagan Conservative
is unbelievable. You are right Newt Gingrich is not perfect but
as the Bible says David was a man after God’s own Heart. David had problems and
issues similar to House Speaker Gingrich but he was selected to serve.  Where
are you True Bible Believers, Tea Party and Conservatives.  Wake Up!!!!

Don’t confuse the Romney campaign with outside sources.  I just saw the media results this morning – “Romney did not begin running negative television ads against Gingrich until after his South Carolina loss”.  You’re thinking of the super pac that ran negative ads in Iowa.  Gingrich kept insisting that Romney could put a stop to it and Romney kept saying he couldn’t communicate with them or control them.  Later, Gingrich found out Romney was correct when he tried to get his own super pac to stop running an ad that every news source was calling “patently false” – but they didn’t quit.
Despite Gingrich trying to portray himself as “relentlessly positive” he’s been very scorched earth.  He was constantly saying the most incendiary things, then spinning it such that “Oh, I’m only pointing out our differences”.  Lately he’s been completely desperate, running the holocaust ad and others that no one can believe.  Check out this article if you don’t believe me about who cast the first stone on the ads.http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/01/mitt-romney-when-attacked-you-have-to-respond/

Gingrich you need to get out of the race, like the bible belt is gonna go your way. You may have won in SC but they don’t speak for us all.

  • Brad

Right on – I totally agree with you.

The plain facts are that supporters of Romney (and that includes Romney) were blasting Gingirch all during the campaign up to the first caucus in Iowa and Gingrich stayed positive the whole time.  Realizing he was going to lose, Gingrich had to change direction in South Carolina.   The Romney machine has been a relentless negative campaign – so much so that when someone on the street is asked why they support Romney, the can only say why they don’t like the other candidate – they do not have any specifics about what Romney would DO in the White House – because he doesn’t give any specifics.  Instead he talks about how he has no control over his ads or investments – I don’t want a guy in the White House that has no control – I want him to be IN control.   Gingrich has said specifically in the first week in office he would get rid of the czar positions, reinstate the conscience clause to protect the attack on religious liberty, reinstate the Mexico City policy to stop having our tax dollars pay for overseas abortions and begin specific actions to repair the damage this president has done to Israel and implement steps to repeal Obamacare in it’s entirety as well as get a bill going for a flat tax.   Ask the person on the street what Romney will do in his first week – uh, I don’t know.

What plain facts? I listed a link, can you refute it?

You want a guy who is in control?  Like how Gingrich couldn’t get his own super pac to pull down the ad he asked them to pull down? Come on Brad, I already addressed this.  Neither of them succeeded in getting their super pac to take down ads.

Romney doesn’t give specifics?  Have you been watching the 19 debates?  Good grief, I’ve heard enough of the specifics to last me a lifetime.  If you’ve just tuned in and are behind, go to Romney’s website.

(Sadly, I think you could ask most people – on most streets – what any of our candidates will do on day one or week one and they wouldn’t know.  For that matter they don’t know the candidates names or recognize their faces.)
