Rick Santorum on CNN Suggests the Mitt Romney Campaign May Have Rigged the CPAC Straw Poll – Video 2/12/12

Interesting.

Here is video of Sen. Rick Santorum on CNN today where Candy Crowley asked him what went wrong at CPAC, that ended up with the Straw Poll there going to Mitt Romney by a 38%-31% margin. Santorum suggested in his answer that the Mitt Romney Campaign may have rigged the vote. He said they have heard “all kinds of numbers” regarding the number of tickets bought by the Romney Campaign and passed out to people. Santorum said the important thing is that “states are voting” now, and this past week they voted for him in Missouri, Minnesota, and Colorado. Santorum said they are focused on competing hard against Romney in Michigan and Arizona, which will hold primaries on February 28.

“Rick Santorum has a history of making statements that aren’t grounded in the truth,” said Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul.”Yesterday Mitt Romney won the CPAC straw poll and won a separate nationwide survey of conservatives conducted by CPAC  organizers. Also, Mitt Romney won the Maine caucuses. Conservative voters recognize that in order to change Washington, we need someone who isn’t a creature of Washington.”Also, in Santorum’s speech he made 10 claims about Romney, fact check found 9 of them to be false.

Romney has a history of being constantly negative about the people closest to him in the polls.  Santorum is continually talking about what he will do to restore the country to greatness, not constantly looking behind his shoulder.  We need a true leader, not someone that brings everyone else down.  That is what the Democrats do in taking their wrecking ball to this great nation.

Romney doesn’t have that history.  His campaign never went negative until after SC when Gingrich had gone negative on him. Santorum’s been campaigning against Romney for weeks with no attention for it, now that he’s having another rise the media is predicting Romney will go negative on him yet they don’t even comment on the things Santorum’s been saying.  Very interesting.

(Don’t bore me by saying the superpacs went negative first – Gingrich found out when his superpac put out the ridiculous stuff on Romney that in fact, the candidate has no control over it.  Gingrich called for it to be removed and it wasn’t.)

Ok, I will buy the no control story after I sell you my plot of land. Romney wins on negativity.  Iowa, Florida, Nevada.  Of course, he didn’t end up winning Iowa.

You can look at it either way, either neither of them have control, or both of them have control, but it’s unfair to only blame one.  (Equal delegates were rewarded for Iowa.)

  • Brad

I agree, both of them have control.

Santorum has no experience at leading anything except a bridge to no where.
