Ohio AG Mike DeWine Switches Endorsement from Mitt Romney to Rick Santorum: “I Firmly Believed Romney was the Best Candidate. I was Wrong.” – Video 2/17/12
Here is video of Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine – a former U.S. Senator – changing his endorsement for President from Mitt Romney to Rick Santorum:
“In October (2011), I endorsed Mitt Romney for President. At the same time, I became a delegate for Mitt Romney. Like a lot of people, I believed at the time that my friend, Rick Santorum, simply could not overcome Gov. Romney’s massive financial and organizational advantage, and maybe more importantly, quite candidly, I firmly believed that Gov. Romney was the best candidate – had the best chance to beat Barack Obama.
I was wrong.
Today, I am withdrawing as a Romney delegate, and I am endorsing Rick santorum for President of the United States.”
Santorum thanked DeWine for his endorsement, noting he knew “how difficult” it was for him to switch his endorsement. He said he is very pleased with how he is doing in Ohio, which holds its GOP Primary on Super Tuesday, March 6.
