The great U.S. Astronaut, Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the Moon, has died at the age of 82. Above is video from Walter Cronkite and CBS News’ coverage of Armstrong’s historic “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
LA TIMES: Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, died following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures, a statement Saturday from his family said.
The Associated Press report did not say where he died. Armstrong had heart surgery earlier this month, but few details were made public at the time. Armstrong was a reticent, self-effacing man who shunned the spotlight whenever possible.
