2013 New York Times Square Ball Drop – Happy New Year! – Video 1/1/13

BREAKING: The Obama White House and the Republicans reportedly have agreed on a deal that will avoid the so-called “Fiscal Cliff” – at least for two months – but Vice-President Joe Biden is heading to the U.S. Capitol to sell the deal to the Democrats in Congress. Assuming they support their own President, the deal could be voted on in the Senate before Midnight tonight. But it only pushes back a couple of months another “Cliff” battle two-months from now over the Debt-Ceiling and spending cuts, which are not a part of this deal. Developing. . .

As Republicans and Democrats come to a last-second (actually past last-second) deal to supposedly avoid the “Fiscal Cliff,” outgoing GOP Rep. Ron Paul says it pretty well that there really is no admission by our leaders that the nation is bankrupt and spending is the problem.

Put as ONLY Charles Krauthammer can put it! He has Obama figured out.

“I found it astonishing. Here he is, coming out to speak to the nation at a crucial moment – in very delicate negotiations – and he comes out there with incredible arrogance. He ridicules the Congress. He spikes the football on the Republicans. He rubs in the fact that they were resisting a raise in rates, and he made them do it. And of course, as always, he places himself hovering benignly at an Olympian level above the fray, where the children are playing in the sand box and he’s asking that everybody be reasonable, as if he just arrived in Washington on a Tourist Visa.

And then he goes into detail. What he basically says, ‘I’m giving the Republicans zero on spending – and I mean zero – not even discretionary spending. This is after he killed a proposal from the Minority Leader in the Senate for the tiniest of changes in entitlements, change in the cost of living index, which is essentially a technical change. So, that’s rejected out of hand. So he’s saying tax hikes all in rates. No cuts in spending. . . .”

Here is great video of CNBC’s Rick Santelli today illustrating just how laughable the “Fiscal Cliff” Deal being done really is when compared to the problem facing America. Santelli took a “pea” and smashed it with a hammer, saying that “pea” compared to the size of the Empire State Building as the National Debt is what Obama’s tax increase deal actually does to the debt. Nothing. He further warned to watch out for your “personal liberty” when leaders start talking about “fairness” and “balance” to cover their intentions.

Here is video of GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell reporting “We have reached an agreement on all the tax issues” to avoid going over the so-called “Fiscal Cliff.” McConnell said a deal to extend current tax rates for most Americans is “very, very. close,” and that he would continue to work in the days ahead for ways to cut spending.

In other words, it appears Republicans are ready to agree to tax rate increases with no spending cuts. Dealing with the real Fiscal problem – runaway Government spending – is not going to be done once again.

Here is video of Sen. John McCain blasting President Obama for his antagonistic, gloating Press remarks earlier today on the “Fiscal Cliff” negotiations. McCain wondered, based on Obama’s actions, whether he really wants a deal to get done.

Here is video of President Barack Obama’s statement on the “Fiscal Cliff” negotiations earlier this afternoon. Obama struck a gloating tone, at times mocking Republicans even before a deal is officially approved. Obama gloated that the GOP “is within sight” of approving a raise in tax rates – which, he reminded, they had said they would not support several weeks ago. Many – even some in the media – wondered if Obama’s gloating, campaign-like tone was really appropriate, especially since nothing has yet been officially approved.

Here is video of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid this morning saying no deal on the “Fiscal Cliff” has yet been struck, and “We are running out of time.” Reid said “negotiations are still continuing as I speak.”

Here is video of Oklahoma GOP Sen. Tom Coburn on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” yesterday, where he bluntly said “I cannot vote for Chuck Hagel” to be U.S. Secretary of Defense. Hagel is widely believed to be the person President Obama will nominate to take the helm at the Pentagon when Leon Panetta soon leaves the post.

Here is video of both Charles Krauthammer and Evan Thomas on “Inside Washington” hammering Barack Obama for his failure as President to provide real leadership on the debt crisis facing the United States. Evan Thomas bluntly said, “This is not the Congress’s fault. Congress is behaving like Congress. This is the President’s fault.”

Video Report by San Antonio Stations KENS Channel 5

A story you won’t hear about in most of the liberal media.

A gunman entered a San Antonio, Texas Movie Theater on December 17, 2012, but found out the hard way it was NOT a gun-free zone. Rather than it becoming a story about dozens of people shot or killed, it became an example of what an armed “good guy” can do when a bad guy comes walking in.

In this case, the “good guy” was an off-duty Sheriff’s deputy at the theater. Sgt. Lisa Cuello Castellano shot the gunman multiple times before he could shoot anyone in the theater. She has been awarded the “Medal of Valor” for her heroism. Another off-duty officer at the theater, Armondo Olguin, was also recognized for helping to apprehend the gunman.

The liberal media won’t talk about this story because it does not fit with the anti-gun songbook they are singing from these days. But it is an obvious example of how different the outcome can be when an armed intruder is met with armed resistance instead of a totally defenseless population. There is no reason why America’s children cannot be protected like this in every school in America. There is a virtual army of retired military, police officers, security personnel and well-trained average citizens who would be ready and willing to protect and defend if mobilized and given the chance to do so. But, instead, the focus will be on creating more “gun-free zones” where instead of armed resistance, would-be killers will find defenseless victims.

From today’s “Meet the Press” Interview with President Obama where a gushing David Gregory actually seemed to compare Barack Obama to Abraham Lincoln, asking him of the “Fiscal Cliff” mess, “Is this your Lincoln moment?”

To his credit, Obama responded, “I never compare myself to Lincoln,” although he is the one who raised the subject by saying lots of people have been asking him about the movie “Lincoln.” Somehow I doubt he minds when others compare him to Lincoln.
