Newt Gingrich is right. Sen. Marco Rubio said essentially the same thing last night. Barack Obama was elected in 2008 as the guy who would bring the “UNITED States of America” together. Instead, he has governed, and won re-election by being partisan – by dividing people against one another – rich vs. poor, women vs. men, minorities vs. whites, etc. He has not consulted with Republicans in any serious way on anything.
If Barack Obama really wants to pass Immigration Reform – as opposed to just using it as a wedge issue – he will stay quiet and let the House and Senate work something out. I doubt that will happen though.
