GOP Rep. Peter King Lashes Out at CPAC for Not Inviting Chris Christie to Speak: “That’s a Suicidal Death Wish. CPAC, to Me, Loses All Credibility” – Video 3/1/13
Here is video of New York Republican Rep. Peter King blasting CPAC for not inviting New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to speak at this year’s conference later this month. Christie was not invited because of a number of positions he has taken over the last year, specifically his push for a $60 Billion Hurricane Sandy Relief bill, much of which was apparently not actually for direct disaster relief. CPAC Chair Al Cardenas has indicated that was one of the major reasons he was not invited this year. I suspect Christie’s huge assist to Barack Obama over the final weekend of the 2012 President Election Campaign was also a major factor. Christie went out of his way to praise Obama just days before the election, and did photo-op tours of the disaster area arm-in-arm with him.
King said not inviting Christie was a “suicidal death wish” for Republicans – a sure prescription for defeat in 2016. He also said CPAC should “not be considered a serious force” because of this decision.
