After Mitt Romney’s huge victory in Florida, the race moves on to Caucuses in Nevada and Maine on February 4. Here are the results from the Florida Primary, and what little polling has been done on the Nevada and Maine Caucuses. I’m sure we’ll see more polling over the next few days. We’ll update the averages as they come in.

Through the day, we’ll post some of the commercials expected to run during Super Bowl XLVI. Here is a good one from General Motors – “Chevy Happy Grad.”

The GOP Nevada Caucuses are being held today, February 4, 2012, and Mitt Romney comes into today looking like he will do very well. There has been very little polling in the state, but in the two polls done recently, Romney holds a 22.5 point lead over his nearest rival, Newt Gingrich. But those results are likely to be far less accurate than in previous contests, because Nevada is a caucus state, and the polling is so scant.

Nevadans (I hope that’s right!) will be able to vote at various times throughout the day, depending on where they live. Complete results are expected to start coming in around 10:00 PM ET tonight.

Here are some things to look for in today’s Nevada Caucuses:

The state is large in geography but is relatively small in population, and it will feature a far smaller electorate than we saw last Tuesday in Florida (perhaps 50,000 participants compared to Florida’s 1.6 million), but like Florida, only registered Republicans can participate. Also similar to Florida, it is considered a battleground state in the general election, and it was a center of tea party activity during the 2010 elections.

In terms of timing, Nevada’s caucuses are unlike Iowa’s of a month ago in that the caucus gatherings will take place at different times throughout the state, with people casting ballots throughout a large part of the day.

For instance, precincts in Reno’s Washoe County, located in Northern Nevada, start caucusing in the morning, while precincts in Las Vegas’ Clark County hold caucuses in the afternoon and into the evening; the last of these is scheduled to convene at 7:00 pm PT (10:00 pm ET). Watchers can expect to start seeing complete results sometime around 7:00 pm PT.

In all, close to 2,000 precincts are available for Republicans to voice their preferences.

Not much polling has been done heading into the contest, but the few polls show former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney with a big advantage. Rep. Ron Paul, former House speaker Newt Gingrich, and former Senator Rick Santorum will look to challenge Romney’s organizational strength, which is always critical in a caucus.

The biggest county to watch is Clark County, which holds Las Vegas and by far the lion’s share of the state’s population. Reno’s Washoe is another county to keep an eye on. . . . Read More

Politico has this on the two major counties in Nevada. The Las Vegas area – Clark County – is where Romney is expected to be the strongest. They say returns from there will come in about two hours later than results from the other major county in the state – Washoe County – which is the Reno area.

POLITICO: . . . Las Vegas’ Clark County is Nevada’s population hub. Reno’s Washoe County is second-most populous in the state. Together they cast roughly 75 percent of the GOP vote in 2008.

Clark is the southern Nevada behemoth that matters most. More than half the caucus vote was cast there last time around, and Romney far outdistanced the rest of the field with 58 percent. He didn’t run nearly as well in Washoe County, where he won 44 percent, but still ran well ahead of anyone else.

If Romney runs up the score in Clark County again as expected, he’ll carry Nevada easily. There’s little reason to think he can’t in a county with one of the largest LDS populations outside of Utah.

Though all eyes will be on Clark County, it will take a while before those results are in Saturday evening. According to the Associated Press, results from Washoe and the rural counties are expected two hours before Clark County reports. . . . . . . . . . . . .Read More

Here is video of a great interview with Denver Broncos quaterback Tim Tebow. He talks about his life, why people seem to “hate” him, his faith, and who he thinks will win tomorrow’s Super Bowl XLVI (8:50 mark of the interview). He thinks it’s awfully hard to pick against Tom Brady.

It’s hard to see how anyone could hate someone as genuine as Tim Tebow.

Here is a new Republican National Committee video highlighting Obama’s Failed Promises – this time to Nevada, which holds their GOP Presidential Caucuses today, February 4.

Here is video of Newt Gingrich seizing on Mitt Romney’s “poor” comment by saying he wants to give the poor in America “a trampoline” so they can jump out of poverty to a better life. Gingrich did say he is sure Romney did not mean he does not care about the poor, but that it is revealing that Romney seemed satisfied with the poor remaining in the social safety net of the country.

Here is video of Rep. Ron Paul coming to the defense of Mitt Romney when CNN’s Piers Morgan began attacking him over his caring for “the poor” comment.

Here’s video of CNBC’s Rick Santelli supplying the internal number behind today’s drop in the U.S. Unemployment Rate to 8.3%.

Basically, 1.2 million people were dropped out of the system because they are no longer looking for work. They don’t get counted in the unemployment rate any longer. Santelli says:

“The labor force participation rate, if you look at non-seasonally adjusted, a fresh low going back to April of ’83. If you look at seasonally adjusted, a fresh low participation rate going back to December of ’81. What does that mean in English? Shrinkage. Shrinkage. 1.2 million people are now not considered unemployed anymore. They just have left the system. So, we need to concentrate on the internals. . . . “

Here is audio of a new Rick Santorum radio ad that attacks Newt Gingrich over his “Moon Colony” idea. It uses a clip of Gingrich saying that by the end of his second term as President, he hopes to have a colony on the moon, and once there are 13,000 people there, they can petition to become the 51st state! The ad calls Gingrich’s idea, “fiscal insanity.”
