Here is video of Gov. Haley Barbour on “CBS This Morning” today, where he reacted to Gov. Bobby Jindal saying the Republican Party has to “stop being the stupid party” – referring to remarks made by some GOP candidates during the 2012 Campaign that hurt the party. Barbour agreed with Jindal’s statement, and said Republicans must not nominate candidates that play right into the plans of Democrats.
On whether Barack Obama is trying to “annihilate” the Republican Party, Barbour said the reality is that “this is the most political Presidency we’ve ever had. It’s the perpetual campaign.”
Here is video of liberal Sen. Angus King (I-ME) on CBS This Morning talking about possible Gun Control legislation. He seemed skeptical of another “Assault Weapons Ban,” pointing out that it is very subjective to try to define what an “assault weapon” is. He said he would rather focus on “magazine capacity,” although he did not define what he thought was too large a capacity.
Here is video of Gov. Mitt Romney on “CBS This Morning” where he said he believes Barack Obama “will do anything” to “hang onto power.” Romney stood by his strong statement yesterday that Obama needs to “take his campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago.” The CBS News hosts did all they could to trap Romney into saying something against Paul Ryan and his budget, but he would not bite. Romney handled himself very well, again and again turning their loaded questions into attacks on Barack Obama. He hammered home that if he and Paul Ryan are elected, they will restore the $716 Billion of cuts to Medicare that Obama will make in order to “pay for his risky Government takeover of Health Care.”
Here is Charlie Rose on “CBS This Morning” today announcing some of the results of a brand new CBS News/New York Times Poll that finds Mitt Romney supporters far more “enthusiastic” than Barack Obama supporters. The poll found 48% of Romney supporters saying they are “enthusiastic,” while only 23% of Obama supporters described themselves that way. It also found 64% of people believe America is on the “wrong track,” while 30% said the country is on the “right track.”
More results from this poll to be released later today.
Here is video of Gov. Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann Romney, appearing on CBS This Morning today, where he said it is “disappointing” that President Barack Obama is politicizing the killing of Osama Bin Laden last year for maximum political gain.
Here is video today of Sen. Rick Santorum on “CBS This Morning” where he blasted Gov. Mitt Romney, saying he “doesn’t have a core” – meaning core beliefs. Santorum said he is “confident” the GOP will eventually nominate a true conservative. Santorum said he thinks it will be “difficult” for any candidate to get the needed 1,144 delegates to win the nomination ahead of the GOP Convention in August.
