Texas GOP Rep. Steve Stockman warned President Obama today that if he seeks to force new gun control on the American people with Executive Orders, he would file articles of Impeachment against him in the U.S. House of Representatives:
DAILY CALLER: Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman threatened Monday afternoon that he would file articles of impeachment against President Barack Obama if he institutes gun control measures with an executive order.
Stockman warned that such executive orders would be “unconstitutional” and “infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms.”
“I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment,” Stockman said in a statement. . . . Read More
The Drudge Report is headlining this afternoon that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has said in a NewsMax interview (video above) that President Obama’s refusal to defend and enforce the Defense of Marriage Act could very well spark a “constitutional crisis.” Gingrich said Obama’s decision to simply ignore a law passed by Congress and signed into law amounts to America now being under the “Rule of Obama instead of the Rule of Law.”
Gingrich said Obama is breaking his word since he campaigned in support of DOMA. Obama also “swore on the Bible” to uphold the Constitution, which means he must enforce the law.
Gingrich called for House Republicans to “pass a resolution instructing the President to enforce the law,” and to say if he fails to do so, they “will zero out the office of Attorney General and take other such steps as necessary until the President agrees to do his job.”
Gingrich called Obama’s move a “very unconstitutional act.” He stopped short of calling Obama’s decision an impeachable offense, but left the door open to it if he does not respond to attempts to get him to enforce the law.
Here is video of Dick Morris on “Hannity” last night, where he said that the offer of a job to get Joe Sestak to end his U.S. Senate race could be an “enormous scandal.” Morris said it is illegal to “offer something of value” to influence an election by getting a candidate to drop out. He is confident Obama would have known if the offer of a significant job was made to Sestak. “That is a high crime and misdemeanor.” In other words — an impeachable offense.
