Here is a video report by CNN from Gaza and Israel last night on the situation there. This morning, it is being reported that Israel has put its planned ground assault on Gaza on hold until Thursday, when “it is understood” there is a deadline for Egyptian-brokered peace talks to work:
UK DAILY MAIL: . . . Meanwhile Israel has put plans for a ground operation in Gaza ‘on hold’ while talks to secure a truce with Hamas militants continue.
While it is understood a Thursday deadline has been set for the Egypt-brokered talks, an Egyptian intelligence source said ‘there is still no breakthrough and Egypt is working to find middle ground.’
Despite discussions there has no been let-up in the violence overnight as a fresh array of airstrikes pummeled Gaza while rockets pounded southern Israel.
The death toll in the region continues to rise steeply and more than 110 Palestinians and three Israelis have been killed since Operation Pillar of Defence began last Wednesday.
Today Israel’s military targeted about 100 sites in Gaza, including ammunition stores and the Gaza headquarters of the National Islamic Bank.

Raw video shows a terrorist rocket flying over Tel Aviv just before being shot down by Israel’s “Iron Dome” Defense System. The person filming the rocket does a good job of following the rocket but you don’t quite see the impact of it being shot out of the sky. I’m sure it would be quite a harrowing thing to be there.
JERUSALEM POST: Third attack on central city in three days intercepted by fifth Iron Dome battery, deployed in Gush Dan earlier in the day; Palestinian terrorists fire 740 rockets into Israel since start of operation.

While police said that one of the missiles landed in an open area, a military source told The Jerusalem Post that the Iron Dome intercepted both missiles.
The Defense Ministry deployed an upgraded Iron Dome battery in the Gush Dan area in the center of Israel on Saturday morning, after rushing its production in light of escalation. The battery is the fifth Iron Dome system operational in Israel.
Islamic Jihad leader Khalid Batsh said on Saturday that the launch of rockets at Tel Aviv from Gaza show “the rules of the game have changed in the region,” Palestinian news agency Ma’an reported.
The attack followed volley after volley of rockets aimed at southern towns on Saturday, as red alert sirens wailed repeatedly, warning residents to flee for cover. Two rockets also landed outside the capital Jerusalem on Friday. One rocket landed near a Palestinian village in the West Bank, shattering windows and scaring residents. Another struck a home in Ashdod directly, injuring five Israeli civilians. . . . Read More
