This is sad.

During last night’s Dallas Cowboys – Philadelphia Eagles Sunday Night Football Game, liberal commentator Bob Costas just felt he had to use the tragic murder-suicide of Kansas City Chiefs Linebacker Jovan Belcher to make a sweeping statement against the 2nd Amendment right to own a handgun. He went so far as to say Belcher and his girlfriend would likely still be alive if he had not possessed a gun – as if no murder has ever been committed in some other way. This statement had no place during an NFL Football Game. But it is in keeping with the leftist ideology of NBC.

Kansas City Chiefs Linebacker Jovan Belcher reportedly killed his girlfriend and then committed suicide at the Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium, shooting himself in the head with Head Coach Romeo Crennel and General Manager Scott Pioli in the vicinity. Belcher was 25 years old.

Huge NFL news today. New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton has been suspended for an entire year for the “bounty program” on the team under his watch that apparently paid players bonuses for hits that knocked opposing players out of games. Payton’s suspension will reportedly cost him $7 million, and will begin April 1.

In other news, the Denver Broncos have traded Quarterback Tim Tebow to the New York Jets for two draft choices, in the wake of their signing Peyton Manning to a huge contract to be their Quarterback.

Here is video of Detroit Lions’ star defensive lineman, Ndamukong Suh, trying to deny stomping on an opposing Green Bay Packers’ player after his team’s loss to the Packers on Thanksgiving Day, 27-15. Suh was ejected for the stomping incident, which occurred after the play. Speculation has already begun on how long a suspension Suh could receive from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Despite Suh’s protests, the video clearly shows him stomping on the Packers’ player on the ground.

Here is a good video report on the negotiations between NFL Owners and the Players Union to avoid a lockout which could jeopardize the 2011 NFL Season.

The two sides agreed to a 24-hour extension of the deadline to reach a new collective bargaining agreement. That moves it to Midnight tonight. If they don’t reach an agreement, one man in the report is quoted as saying he believes there is a “100% chance” the season will be at least shortened due to a lockout.

Here is an outstanding profile done by 60 Minutes on the owner of the Dallas Cowboys – Jerry Jones. Reporter Scott Pelley follows Jones through the “season from hell” for the Cowboys, who have a dismal 4-9 record so far, after being expected to contend for the Super Bowl. The report gives a real inside look at what makes Jones tick, and provides a good look a just how much Jones wants to win.

Interestingly, the report points out that even though there are 32 NFL Teams, the Dallas Cowboys rake in 25% of NFL memorabilia that is sold. The Cowboys are also ranked as the most valuable sports franchise just ahead of the New York Yankees.

Below is a clip of Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo and Wide Receiver Miles Austin giving their thoughts on Owner Jerry Jones:
