As we approach Thanksgiving Day tomorrow, it is startling to realize just how many Americans are now on Food Stamps. This year, it’s a record 42.2 million Americans. Back during the 2012 GOP Nomination Race, Newt Gingrich (above) aptly described Barack Obama as “the Food Stamp President”:

US NEWS: More Americans will use food stamps to buy their Thanksgiving dinner this year than ever before, according to a new report from the nonprofit government watchdog group The Sunlight Foundation. . . . According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, average participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamp program, has increased 70 percent since 2007. . . .

This Thanksgiving, 42.2 million Americans will be on food stamps, according to the Economic Policy Institute. This is roughly the size of the populations of California and Connecticut combined.

Not surprisingly, feeding millions of Americans isn’t cheap. The cost of the SNAP program last year reached $72 billion, the highest to date, according to the Congressional Budget Office. . . . Read More

He was on the Today Show this morning where he schooled Ann Curry, who was just outraged at Gingrich’s description of Barack Obama as the “best Food Stamp President in American History.” Curry tried to turn that into a racist attack on Obama, but Gingrich would not let her get away with it. Gingrich consistently challenges the liberal media and they despise him for it, and for his blunt talk on Obama.
