Here is video of Utah GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch delivering the Republican Weekly Address, which he used to focus on massive tax increases coming in January 2013 if Congress and the President do not act. Extension of the Bush Tax Rates for all Americans is a must if there is to be any chance for Economic Recovery. Barack Obama and the Democrats want to allow tax rates to rise on small business owners. Hatch points out that Obama’s plan would allow 1 million small business owners to be hit with as much as a 17% tax increase.

Longtime GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch cruised to victory last night in the Utah Republican Primary Election. Hatch defeated Dan Liljenquist, who had been backed by some conservatives to challenge Hatch. But Hatch was also supported by some key conservatives, including Sean Hannity and Mark Levin:

USA TODAY: Hatch, 78, had been bracing for a tough re-election battle, but he breezed to victory. Former state senator Dan Liljenquist, who survived a 2008 plane crash in Guatemala that killed 11 of 14 on board, won just enough support at the state GOP’s nominating convention to advance to the primary.

But Liljenquist faced an overwhelming financial and organizational disadvantage in the primary. Hatch, learning from the defeat two years ago of his Senate colleague Robert Bennett, spent about $10 million blanketing the airwaves and building a campaign operation unlike anything Utah had seen before.

Hatch told the Associated Press in an interview Tuesday night that he was ready to tackle the nation’s debt problems and focus on Social Security and Medicare. . . . Read More

It is true that Orrin Hatch was instrumental in the confirmation of every conservative Supreme Court Justice on the high court today – fighting particularly hard to save the nomination of Justice Clarence Thomas. He is now a virtual lock to win in November and keep the seat for what will hopefully become a Republican-controlled U.S. Senate.

Here is audio of Mark Levin yesterday defending GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch and supporting his re-election to the Senate in Utah. Levin made a compelling case for Hatch, reminding Republicans that it was Hatch who stood strong for conservative Supreme Court nominees in the 1980’s and 1990’s. He pointed out Hatch’s key role in helping Justice Clarence Thomas through his grueling confirmation hearings.

I have to say I agree with Levin on this. Hatch has made some votes I don’t agree with, but to completely forget his faithful support of pro-Life efforts, and conservative judicial nominees, and his fight for a Balanced Budget Amendment is wrong. He has a lot of influence on the Senate Judiciary Committee, and we may need that influence again in the years to come.

On with Greta Van Susteren last night, Gov. Sarah Palin said she joins “Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and other conservatives” in endorsing Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch for re-election to the U.S. Senate. Palin called Hatch “Mr. Balanced Budget,” and said she believes he ought to be returned to the Senate to lead the fight for a Balanced Budget Amendment.

Hatch fell just short of the 60% support needed at the state GOP Convention in April that would have kept him from having to face a June 26 Primary vote. Hatch must face Dan Liljenquist in the June 26 Primary.

Here is video of GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch blasting President Obama yesterday during a speech on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

Hatch hammered Obama for “assuming the role of theologian-in-chief” by suggesting at the National Prayer Breakfast that “Jesus would support his latest tax-the-rich scheme.” Hatch pointed out the irony of Obama lecturing religious leaders on how Jesus would support his Big Government schemes when Obama pushes to force religious institutions to provide drugs and services to kill the unborn.

Hatch further said, “Someone needs to remind the President that only one person ever walked on water – and He did not occupy the Oval Office.”

Bravo, Sen. Hatch!

Here is audio of GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch on the Sean Nannity Radio Program yesterday, where Hannity endorsed Hatch for re-election to the U.S. Senate next year. Hatch, who has been accused of not being sufficiently conservative by his detractors, will likely face a primary challenge from Utah GOP Rep. Jason Chaffetz.

Hannity said he is bothered by attacks on Hatch that ignore his very conservative record over the years – particularly Hatch’s support for a Balanced Budget Amendment, and the role he has played in getting conservative justices confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Hannity recounted how Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas credited Hatch with playing a “massive role” in getting him through the shameful attacks against him by Democrats during his confirmation process. Sean Hannity was particularly pleased that Hatch voted against the Debt Limit Deal just passed by the Senate yesterday.

Hatch was asked who he supported for the GOP Nomination in 2012. He said he “likes them all,” but that he “definitely supports Mitt Romney.”

NOTE: Both Hatch and Hannity said conservative Mark Levin has also endorsed Hatch for re-election.

UPDATE: I’ve added Mark Levin’s endorsement below of Hatch on his radio program about a month ago.

Here is video of Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch giving the GOP Weekly Address this weekend, where he advocated for passage of a Balanced Budget Amendment. Hatch said such an amendment is necessary to get government spending under control.

“The solution to a spending crisis is not tax increases. . . Washington has consistently demonstrated that it cannot control its urge to spend . . . Only by restoring constitutional restraints on the ability of Congress to spend, can we constrain the growth of the federal government.”

Sen. Orrin Hatch Advocates for a Balanced Budget Amendment in GOP Weekly Address – 7/16/11

GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch is fed up with President Obama’s stance on Israel, and is preparing to offering a resolution in the U.S. Senate “disapproving” of President Obama’s call for Israel to retreat to its 1967 Borders:

THE HILL: Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch (R) announced Friday he would introduce a congressional resolution disapproving of President Obama’s stance on Israel’s border lines, saying that “threatens Israel’s security.”

“By calling for a return to the pre-1967 borders, President Obama has directly undermined her,” Hatch said of Israel. “Rather than stand by Israel against consistent unprovoked aggression by longtime supporters of terrorism, President Obama is rewarding those who threaten Israel’s very right to exist. This is not only ridiculous, but dangerous.”

Hatch’s announcement came shortly after Obama finished a protracted Oval Office meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A day earlier, the president said in a major foreign policy address that lines drawn before the 1967 “Six Day War” should be the starting point for negotiations over a future Palestinian state.

In a joint appearance after Friday’s meeting, Obama cited “differences” with Netanyahu on that issue, though he said he was optimistic a peace deal could be reached. Netanyahu reiterated his opposition to a return to the 1967 borders, calling such a move “indefensible.”

Said Hatch: “There is strong disapproval in Congress for the President’s new posture towards Israel, and I will introduce a resolution next week affirming Israel’s right to maintain its territorial integrity.

“Now, more than ever, the security interests of the United States and Israel are linked,” he said. “Iran’s quest for nuclear weapons is a clear and present danger to both of our nations. We cannot distance ourselves from our Israeli friends.” . . . . Read More

Excellent idea. Make every Democrat go on record as to whether they stand with Israel or against them.
