Rasmussen is out with a new Florida Poll this morning that leaves little doubt as to a major swing in favor of Mitt Romney there. The new poll has Romney leading Newt Gingrich by 8 points 39%-31%, a major turnaround from the previous Rasmussen survey conducted in Florida on Sunday, just after Gingrich had won the South Carolina Primary. Gingrich had moved to a 9 point lead 41%-32% in that poll.

RASMUSSEN: Mitt Romney has jumped back ahead in the fevered Florida Republican Primary race with his support back to where it was before Newt Gingrich’s big win Saturday in South Carolina.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Florida Republican Primary Voters, taken Wednesday night, shows Romney with 39% support to Gingrich’s 31%. Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum earns 12%, and Texas Congressman Ron Paul runs last with nine percent (9%). Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and seven percent (7%) are undecided.

Four days ago, just after the South Carolina Primary, Gingrich led Romney 41% to 32%. Less than two weeks earlier, coming off Romney’s decisive win in the New Hampshire Primary, it was Romney 41%, Gingrich 19% in Florida. Santorum’s and Paul’s support has remained largely the same throughout. . . .

The new Rasmussen Poll confirms what Insider Advantage also found yesterday, and that is a move up for Romney following his more aggressive debate performance on Monday. American Research Group also put out a poll yesterday showing Romney back to a 7 point lead in Florida.

We now have Romney up to a 3 point lead over Gingrich in Florida in our 3-Day Average of Polls.

Rasmussen becomes Second New Poll Showing Newt Gingrich Storming into the Lead in Florida – 1/23/12

A shocking new national poll out by Rasmussen today shows Newt Gingrich surging to within three points of Mitt Romney, 30%-27%, in the GOP Presidential Race. The one-day poll was done yesterday, January 17, entirely after the GOP Presidential Debate on Monday night. Romney has been leading by double-digits in virtually every national poll, but this may indicate Gingrich is getting a huge bounce off of his outstanding debate performance.

Yet to be seen is whether Gingrich will get the same kind of massive bounce in South Carolina. If he does, he’s got a real shot at winning there on Saturday. We’ll see as new polls come out on the South Carolina race done after Monday night’s debate. Adding to the drama is that there will be another debate, this time on CNN, tomorrow night.

New Poll – National – 2012 GOP Nomination

A new Rasmussen Poll on the 2012 GOP Presidential Nomination race shows Herman Cain holding a three-point lead over Mitt Romney, despite the allegations of sexual harassment he has been dealing with all week. The poll was conducted November 2, which was three days after the Politico story broke. That has to encourage Cain. It appears most of his supporters are not abandoning him because of the allegations.

A new Rasmussen Poll on the 2012 GOP Nomination race finds Texas Gov. Rick Perry now holding a double-digit lead over the rest of the GOP Field. The survey was done last night (Monday), after Perry’s announcement for President and Michele Bachmann’s win in the Iowa Straw Poll. It also was done after Gov. Perry leads among those who identified themselves as “Tea Party voters,” and among non-Tea Party voters.

To be sure, Perry has gotten a big bump here from his announcement, but it remains to be seen if he can sustain or expand that momentum in the weeks ahead. But, it is clear he had a very good roll-out to his campaign.
