Rick Santorum Says “It’s Time to Rally Conservatives”; Won’t Comment on CPAC Decision to Not Invite Gov. Chris Christie – Video 3/1/13

Well said.

Here is video of Sen. Rick Santorum on ABC News’ “This Week” today where he was asked about what Republicans should do in the face of Barack Obama’s new Gun Control push. Santorum’s response was perfect:

“I think we should stick to our guns.”

Santorum believes that with the “increasingly violent nature of our society,” people are not going to take kindly to Obama’s agenda to restrict the 2nd Amendment right to “keep and bear arms.”

It sounds like Rick Santorum may try to pick up where he left off and run for the GOP Presidential Nomination again in 2016:

THE WEEKLY STANDARD: Former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum says he is “open” to another run for president in 2016. Santorum was asked about a possible presidential campaign Monday at THE WEEKLY STANDARD.

“I’m open to it, yeah,” Santorum replied. “I think there’s a fight right now as to what the soul of the Republican party’s going to be and the conservative movement, and we have something to say about that. I think from our battle, we’re not going to leave the field.”

In 2012, Santorum won nearly 4 million votes and 11 GOP primary contests—the same number of states, he pointed out, Ronald Reagan won in his failed 1976 presidential bid. The nomination eventually went to Mitt Romney, whom Santorum argued did not focus on what he considered the “main issue” of the race: The role of government in the lives of Americans. . . . Here is Rick Santorum saying Gov. Mitt Romney was on the defensive too much during the 2012 Presidential Election, and specifically said Romney should have talked more about abortion during the campaign – going after Barack Obama for his support of infanticide when he was an Illinois State Senator.

Here is complete video of Sen. Rick Santorum’s speech tonight at the 2012 Republican National Convention. Santorum said about the Republican Party that “there is still one party in America who reaches out its hands to care for all Americans – born and unborn.”

Here is video of Sen. Rick Santorum on CNN last night where he did not exactly give Mitt Romney a ringing endorsement. But part of that is the result of being boxed-in by remarks he made during the 2012 GOP Nomination race, which the media, of course, gleefully likes to replay again and again. This will dog Santorum every time he tries to make a public appearance in behalf of Romney. CNN’s John King played video of Santorum saying you cannot trust Mitt Romney on the issue of Health Care, and then asked him if he now trusts Mitt Romney. Santorum’s response: “I trust him more than Barack Obama.”

Here is video of Rick Santorum on Jay Leno last night, where he reiterated his endorsement of Mitt Romney for President. But when Leno opened the door, Santorum could not resist one more chance to take a shot at Romney over RomneyCare.

Something tells me the Romney Campaign won’t be asking Santorum to be one of their primary surrogates this Fall!

In a long, late night email letter sent out to supporters, Rick Santorum has endorsed Gov. Mitt Romney for President. The email went out last night around 11 PM, and toward the bottom of the letter, Santorum made the endorsement:

RICK SANTORUM.COM: . . . The primary campaign certainly made it clear that Governor Romney and I have some differences. But there are many significant areas in which we agree: the need for lower taxes, smaller government, and a reduction in out-of-control spending. We certainly agree that abortion is wrong and marriage should be between one man and one woman. I am also comfortable with Governor Romney on foreign policy matters, and we share the belief that we can never allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons. And while I had concerns about Governor Romney making a case as a candidate about fighting against Obamacare, I have no doubt if elected he will work with a Republican Congress to repeal it and replace it with a bottom up, patient, not government, driven system.

Above all else, we both agree that President Obama must be defeated. The task will not be easy. It will require all hands on deck if our nominee is to be victorious. Governor Romney will be that nominee and he has my endorsement and support to win this the most critical election of our lifetime.

My conversation with Governor Romney was very productive, but I intend to keep lines of communication open with him and his campaign. I hope to ensure that the values that made America that shining city on the hill are illuminated brightly by our party and our candidates thus ensuring not just a victory, but a mandate for conservative governance.

Karen and I know firsthand how difficult the campaign trail can be particularly as governor Romney faces relentless attacks from the democrats. We have been praying for him and his family and will continue to do so in the weeks and months ahead. . . . Read More

Not exactly a ringing endorsement where the two former rivals stand side-by-side united before the cameras. But I guess, this is all Santorum felt he could give. I guess its possible there may be an appearance with the two together still coming. No word on that as of yet.

Here is a new Democrat National Committee ad that is composed entirely of Rick Santorum’s words attacking Mitt Romney on creating jobs. This is a perfect example of why candidates in a heated primary need to think carefully about how they go about attacking their fellow-Republicans. Notice the DNC released this ad yesterday, on the day Santorum and Romney got together for a talk. I wonder how many more ads like this the DNC has lined up?

Here is video of Rick Santorum on with CNN’s Piers Morgan last night where he gave Gov. Mitt Romney a non-endorsement endorsement. He would not flat-out officially endorse Romney, but he said Romney is going to be the nominee and that he will support whoever is the nominee!

The mobilizing together behind Mitt Romney has begun in earnest. What many pundits forget is that the great unifier of conservatives in 2012 will be Barack Obama.

Here is video of Sen. Rick Santorum speaking at the NRA Convention in St. Louis yesterday, where he pledged to be “all in” to work for relecting Republicans and defeating Barack Obama in November.

Santorum even referenced the feeling many have, of not liking a particular candidate because of “this or that” issue. But he challenged the audience “we must be all in” to win in November. “We’ve got to win” Santorum said.
